For those of you who know this already, my apologies; for those that don’t, I have looking at ways to increase the views for everyone here on Vrily. Increased views mean that Virily makes more money, and we all continue our happy world! One of the things that I have been doing is going back and looking at old posts that I made, and a few first posts shared with me by other authors (a huge thank you to all of them). I do love going back and reading and commenting on those old posts! When I read a post, I share that post on Facebook or Twitter. Sometimes both if I find the post resonates with something that I enjoy. But mostly one or the other for the share.
Here is my proposal. Or perhaps my guarantee.
- If I read your post and I will comment. I will not comment on posts of authors that don’t comment on my posts. I tried that two weeks ago, and it helps me keep my reading list shorter. (also I do reserve the right to not reads posts that make me uncomfortable).
- I will share the post on twitter.
- If you reply to my comment
- I will share your post again (if it is more than 24 hours between my comment and your comment, I will share it again on twitter, otherwise the second share will be facebook).
The goal is simple, and I want to help every gain views. Views are important here on Virily. They pay the site (Google Adsense), and then the site pays us.
I am limiting my reading to no more than 30 posts a day. It is a lot of time in the morning for me currently, and I really can’t spend more time than that.
I am going to start this program tomorrow! The first thing and early in the morning!
I am also doing a couple of other ways to improve views projects and will share that information later.

The problem is that we no longer receive virils for an outside view. The incentive to share posts was taken away.

we, Virily Authors, get paid for writing on this site.
The site makes money from Google Adsense.
Google Adsense only pays on views of ads.
No views of ads no payment for Virily.
No payment for Virily no payment for authors.
You still indirectly paid for outside views. Just no direct credit anymore.
Good idea there … hope it’ll work out well!!

i had to increase my time on Virily by a half hour. We shall see. I am going to say it is no more than 30!

not always, I am getting up earlier this week to find the time.
That is something that you want to do that.

As I shared my views on this on Elllie92 posts It am not active on so social networks, but I will try to read and comment on as many posts as possible everyday.
I understand that, all of us do what we can do. This is an experiment and something I can do!
Your approach is good. I like it. We can all try to read as many posts as we can and comment as much as we can. Since most posts are short, if they were longer they would fair well on search engines. Talk about SEO.
I think the reality of SEO is interesting. One of the reasons I keep my family blog the same every day, is that you can search google or bing for Wander project and my stuff comes up!
We shall see if this works.
have you asked the admins about tags being removed? tags help posts show up in google, which could help drive views
I still get some tags on all my posts, but it was something we sent to them back in July.
this seems like a huge one to ignore. but for all we know, they’re trying like hell to fix it…
i do not know the answer.
I was told not to bother the admins right now they are very busy.
just tried tags again today, still broken for me
how do you enter the tags? i am only getting 12 to 14 pages at most per post.
right before I post, I type in my tags. the last thing I do
this is what has worked for me.
I have a text file and literally copy and past that file into each post.
that seems to get the 10-12 tags they allow.
then I will try it again…
make sure you do it the same way (comma delimited)
it works every time for me, but there is a limit to the number of tags you can have.
will give it a try and see what I get. just entering them manually doesn’t seem to work at all

I hope this works. Another member suggested inserting links of other users in each of our posts.
so do I carol so do I. the only issue or concern I have with adding other users posts to a post, is that many don’t bother to read the post.
I don’t see much point in sharing a post on Twitter or Facebook that the average reader would not understand, simply because it is discussing an internal Virily matter or if it would only make sense to someone who knows the back story to a post – for example, we have several members who use Virily to sort out their own state of mind and have been doing so over a long period of time. If a post would be of general interest, then sharing posts makes sense.
I am not going to share posts about Virily. Most of the posts here are not about the site.
All posts are of great to the author, it’s they wrote them.

Honestly, i would start by answering comments on your posts. Then I would comment on the posts of others.
both of those will drive views.
Sharing posts on social media is awesome! However, I am not sure that sticking to view-for-view or comment-for-comment approach will bring more views. If we all do that, in the end there may not be anyone to make the first step.

BUt i do understand your point. It is one week of extra effort, so I figured I needed to limit it!
ps on average my external twitter shares bring 30 views for the post I shared.
my Facebook between 12-14 views per share.
the second share may not bring as much.

the comment for comment was simply an easy way for me to cap how many i get in a day.
I see. I am not a fan of commenting just for the sake of commenting, but I think view-for-view can have a negative impact on the views in general. And if you share too much, people get tired. It’s a complicated situation.
i am part of a couple of groups that share blogs on purpose so I should be ok.
I am only going to do this for a week. just to see.
as for commenting to comment, I don’t do that. I read and comment on every single post I comment on.
there are many here that do not read posts and just upvote.
I have tried many things but nothing works and I will not bother again …. I will comment to those who will comment on me …. I still miss you comments for you sometimes

I find this idea very interesting. I am thinking a lot about maximizing views but nothing is working right now.
i know that is why I am trying things differently to see if that changes anything.
Once person did not want to click on the Virily site because it brings spam but then that is how Virily gets its money. If I get spam I delete it.
I guess each to their own.
i understand that, you shouldn’t get spam from Virily interaction in an email it on the screen as advertising
As we are lacking in outside views I would assume that writing about this site probably won’t bring those outside views – I would think they would be looking for current topics rather than just what happens here.
I have been using sharing posts consistently. For seven days I only commented on those who commented on mine and it cut down on a lot of time that could be used on other things.
I really wonder about the upvote. It seems to fill up space, but really gives the writer a bunch of clean up work to do and no real feedback. I think I will continue to only upvote if I have a comment about it or if it is a ranking post where you use upvote and downvote to change the ranking inside the vote. To me that makes sense.
I will do my best to put all my thoughts in one comment instead of making multiple comments where they just are needed or could have been said in the earlier comment.
I use at least three social media sites every day to share the posts of others.

That makes sense to me. I work to get outside views and try my best to send them to posts I think they will enjoy or benefit from.
i am going to blanket the internet with tweets for a week and see what that does!
