World Kindness Day

Did you know that November 13 is World Kindness Day? It was introduced by the World Kindness Movement in 1998, and it’s observed in many countries around the world. 

Here are some interesting facts about kindness:

According to a study published in the Journal of Social Psychology, people who performed a single act of kindness a day for ten days experienced a significant increase in overall happiness than those who didn’t.

Another study showed that remembering past acts of kindness can improve your mood and make you likely to perform more kind acts.  

Practising kindness can reduce stress and have a positive impact on your mental and physical health.

How to show kindness

You can show kindness by providing support and empathy, by hearing someone, by offering help or a gesture, by feeding a hungry person or an animal, or by leaving a positive note to make someone’s day. You can also say “thank you” or explain why you appreciate someone. Even something like a smile, eye contact or a compliment can make a person feel better.  Finally, saving a negative thought or word to yourself instead of hurting someone is an act of kindness too.
