The collapse of the Slovenian airline

Adria Airways was the largest Slovenian airline and a member of the Star Association. The company was headquartered in Zgornji Brnik, Cerklje na Gorenjskem. It operated scheduled and charter flights to 31 destinations in 23 mostly European countries. The company’s parent airport was the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport in the immediate vicinity of Spodnje Brnik. Adria Airways employed about 600 people – 200 of them pilots who landed at the Employment Service.

On September 30, 2019, the company filed for bankruptcy with the Carniola District Court. It went bankrupt and left 90 million in debt.

  1. That sounds like good news to me – the more airlines that go out of business, the better. Air travel is a major contributor to the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and it is essential that people stop travelling by plane.

I have been on a plane 11 times during my 67 years, and I have no intention of adding to that number.

    • Thanks for viewing and kind comment, dear Ileana….it also took a while for us … the country did not want to help …. now they are supposed to open a new airline only a half smaller state-owned company
