Today is the Wacky Wednesday challenge I started awhile back. I chose this poplar tree leaf photo because I find it so odd (wacky) that the leaves are changing colors already and the temperatures are still hot summer 90 degrees, and getting close to 100 degrees lately.
It is almost like fall is trying so hard to make its appearance. But summer will not leave. I find that a little wacky.
Bring on fall weather for goodness sakes mother nature!

I do hope fall comes soon, and stays a long time. I love fall, but it never last long enough.
They change with the amount of light during the day. You will see small changes start to happen after the longest day of the year. I do love this photo, great contrast. So sorry it’s still hot, this week has been really nice here, but it is supposed to warm back up to triple digits on the east side of our county.
Thanks Kim. It is so odd to see this with hot temperatures. Stay cool.
True, with changing leaves you just expect it to be a bit cooler. Maybe a faint cool autumn breeze. I get ya. I spoke too soon above. We are having a Santa Ana now and inland is supposed to reach 97! Deserts triple digits, and the coast in the lower 90’s. I am ready for a cool down that stays a few weeks at least.
The weather here is lovely at the moment, just pleasant. That picture looks lovely.
Enjoy, and thank you Dawn.
The leaves on one of our trees (Choke Cherry) have turned and fallen off already!
Never heard of Choke Cherry. I am so ready for fall.
so am I, we get another day in the 90s today.
A brown leaf on the garden floor is always a pretty sight.
I have to agree with you, this one caught my eye.
Very nice colour and photo of this poplar leaf…
Thanks Pam, my backyard is covered in leaves.
What a coincidence! We have tones of these leaves around here right now.
So you have fall in your world? We still have summer but it will end soon… hopefully.
this is the mildest summer I can remember since moving here decades ago
You are kidding! Ours has been so hot, and continues to be. And not enough rain.
everyone else is frying, but we haven’t gone triple digits yet…
I have witnessed a bit of Fall when I was in Canada for a day and a half.
Would love to see Canada in the fall.
Great shot. It’s real too early for fall colors ?
Thanks, I don’t mind at all if only we had the weather to go along with it. It is still so hot here.
Also, the poplar trees always start losing their leaves first in the yard.
It looks like a maple leaf to me. Is it autumn already?
It is a tulip poplar leaf. No, we still have summer, like I said in the post. The leaves fall in September.
Temperatures have dropped slightly in the last week. There are signs that a new season starts.
I wish we had lower temps, I hope eventually we will. I am so ready.
Do you see falling leaves in your area? What season are you in?
For most of the past week, it has been cool and damp here. Yesterday didn’t reach 70 and today will likely be just over that. The leaves here haven’t started changing color, though, and if it is like normal, it will happen quite quickly.
Incidentally, it really doesn’t make much difference, but the leaf in the picture is a maple leaf if I’m not mistaken. Poplar leaves have a rather distinct shape that is almost heart-shaped. That does give me something to write about, though. 🙂
I would so love cool and damp Rex. Our grass is crunchy and turning brown. The tulip poplar’s always turn first. No, this is a poplar leaf, I don’t have any maples. I am watching them fall from the poplars.
Here is a post I wrote about back in the spring about my poplar tree:

The hottest day we’ve had in the past 10 days was 84. We’ve also had plenty of rain. It is partly sunny today, but the clouds tower up like thunderclouds, so we might be getting thunderstorms later on.
We have had many triple digit days. Crazy!
Its hot here almost 37 C
I am so over hot weather. 🙁
Do you ever have triple digit temperatures? I know it is different in celsius.
