Love ItLove It WTFWTF

Fixing the reality of where the site is now…

All right, we are heading into the weekend – two posts Today laying out what we would like, tomorrow picking our top three, and sending that to the admin team. They are in the overall order based on the last voting.

  1. Moderation speed up, perhaps no more than 48 hours for posts to be moderated!
  2. Return of the drafts options
  3. Back of the edit button (but the edited post starts at zero)
  4. Report button for Private Messages
  5. Report button functionality (removes the comment) for comments
  6. Social media style blocking for users – no contact once they are blocked
  7. Remove the WTF Emoji Option
  8. More communication from the admin team

As the site declines in users, and in comments, we have to pull together. As a site, views are down over the last four weeks considerably. The external views are constant, but I can tell you that several readers of my posts externally will no longer come to virily because of the spam and comments they are reading when they read posts. (that made me sad).

My father always said you are part of the problem if you are not part of the solution.

Let’s all be part of the solution!

Please let me know what you would like to know from the admin communication in the comments, and I will make sure that gets included for the admins! Please note these eight are the top 8 vote-getting options in the last two polls. The first one is critical; I believe we need new content. External views are constant to rise over the previous month. But new posts and internal lights are down from April’s average rate. We all know that is true: a job with five comments made the most commented category on the site. It used to be that making that list resulting in a 20% readership bump. That is no longer the case.

  1. These are good suggestions, although I am not very sure about the stuff related to reporting comments. People could easily abuse that and report something just because they don’t like the commenter. But even now, it seems that when something is reported it gets deleted regardless of its content.

I agree with Norman that we need new users.

  2. Now I am wondering if all my posts are spam. I would hope someone would let me know and suggest better topics. In fact if someone gave me a list of topics I would do my best.

Since I am commenting here – Bro is home! He’s happy to be home. He is laughing, happy and smiling today. Yesterday he yelled at me so my sister took me to the pharmacy. Today is much better!

  4. In my opinion, removing WTF option is not important. I do not pay attention to the emojis. What Virily has to do is giving us virilys when we comment posts. This is the key issue. Now, Virily has lost a lot because of this change. ASK VIRILY TO GIVE US BACK VIRILYS WHEN WE READ AND COMMENT OTHER POSTS. Thanks a lot for your efforts to make Virily great.

      • Ok. Thanks. This is really the only thing I should change but to be honest I have to say that I sent an article to Virily 3 days ago and I am still waiting to see it published. This happens all the time. I send articles and I have to wait a lot of days to have them published. Sometimes, these articles are converted into drafts and I have to send them again to have them published.

    • you do know that the commenting on other authors’ posts was removed because there were users that over commented (40 posts per day, but never replied to the author of the post’s reply). The goal of the admin team was conversations.

      • Ok. I did not know that. Now, because of the bad behaviour of some people, we are all affected. These things happen but it is unfair although nobody can oblige one person to answer to the author of the post and I do not see any fault in the fact that some people commented 40 posts. Virily has lost with this change and these people who behaved bad have damaged all of us. Let´s hope Virily can survive ten more years.

        • i can list all the things that we have lost from the bad behavior of other authors.

the draft folder issue, that was actually a way to cheat the system four years ago.
Comment limits were because people put nice, good in the comments

I could go on it is a long list pal.

          1
    • honestly pal they have made the changes we’ve requested since July of last year they have made 8 of the 14 things we’ve asked for (sadly the 6 are the top asks of the community, but not much I can do about that).

  5. I like that. A report button that removes the comment. Just recently I reported comments by an individual no longer on the site because they were attacking someone. It is another thing that affects the repetition of the site because we just lost a writer who was around when the site began. And who knows who else we’ve lost or could have had on the site as writers who were saw that.

  6. We already have a ‘report’ button on the comments. Hiding a reported comment from everyone prejudges the outcome in favour of the report-er, and this would be open to abuse. In social media (e.g. Facebook) a reported comment is only hidden from the user who reported it, until a decision is made by admin.

Another important matter, I think, is the possibility for new users to join. We are all aware of the need to grow views, but unless new blood can come on the the scene, there’s only one direction this can go 🙁

    • your point on comments is fine if, the admins respond quickly. It takes them 5 to 10 days to remove comments after they are reported.

      compromise? middle ground here?

I suspect based on the error some users are seeing on logon they are considering new users a premium or highest level account would be 12 dollars us per month according to the screen.

      It is tough, I agree.
