Making writing sites better – what do you want?

Today is my wrapup day of how we can all work together to improve things.

  • Social Media style blocking means that the user cannot interact with you on your posts at all. I would like to see a zero-tolerance policy, but I doubt that is going to happen.
  • The return of the edit button is a return to the ability to edit posts.
  • More communication would be from the admin team to us.
  • Please give us the ability to report private messages to the admin team. Users that have multiple PM’s reported would lose the ability to use the PM feature.
  • Same for comments, multiple rude or mean comments would result in that person have their comments removed.
  • Removing WTF as an emoji and replacing it with a sad face.
  • Return of a useable draft folder.
  • Finally, Service Level Agreements for how long posts take to moderate.

The poll questions are focused on two of them today. The rest have all received multiple yes votes so that I will move them forward for now. I will pull together a poll for this weekend that will let you choose your top three of this list. I realize this is a long list. All of these come from suggestions made by authors in the community that has not been enacted by the admin team (other than edit and drafts which existed before).

Little things matter – how we treat other people matters as well. I want to thank everyone in advance. We did this process three times since July 2019. We have gotten more than ½ the features we’ve asked for added to the platform since the first time we’ve done this. Please make sure you add anything I am missing as far as features in the comments. Remember that this next post will be shared with the admins. The goal, as always, is to present what the community wants going forward. So if something is missing on my list, let’s add it in the comments!

return of full drafts functionality (what does that mean to you in the comments)…

    Yes (3 votes) – 100%

  2. All I can say is that I totally agree. I never place anything if drafts but to me, the edit button is important if once I post something and suddenly see I made a mistake that I could immediately correct that.

  3. Drafts are the most important to me personally, but the long waiting can be frustrating so I hope they work on that too or they simply verify more users. It feels like there are very few people on the site lately.
