Some things we can all do (Making Writing Sites Better)

What can be done?

Views are down (a lot) but not down as far as they were in December 2019 and January 2020. A lot of folks assumed/stated that it was possibly the holidays. We had a rise in February of views a little, but honestly, views have slid from February to now. I suspect part of that is the change that was made by the site reducing the number of and ways we could earn virils overall. I watch between 5-10 authors to see what is happening to their posts. The number of authors attended depends wholly on my time. I limit my time on this site and other writing sites to no more than two hours in the morning now. I do log in at lunch to share and see what comments I have, but I am trying to cut my time not to increase it.

People ask me all the time, how can we increase views. I don’t have one answer to that question today, so I thought I would include several ideas (not all of them are mine).

  1. Set a goal and comment on 20 posts a day.
  2. Start at least one conversation on your post. (more than three comments in-depth with only two authors involved)
  3. Start at least one conversation on another author’s post (more than three comments profound).
  4. Share posts via social media (5 per day)

These are quick, easy, and for the most part, not hard. I struggle with getting to 20 but have been able to do that with my time limits. I promise you are leaving comments for other authors that will help you in the long run! The first thing is more people will comment on your post. The only way to make a decent number of virils per day is to have those conversations. If you start one on your posts and one on another author’s posts, you will benefit both of you!

As a community, we all have to help each other to move things forward! We can succeed if we all work together! Remember every comment you leave is a gift for the author, thank you from all of us for doing that!

  2. All those ideas proposed in your text are good ones, though they will vary in practicability between users. All of the suggestions you make for admin actions in the poll questions are clearly good ones.
From my POV, the ability to save drafts and preview posts is more important than being able to edit after posting. Also, last time I tried to send someone a compliment, I couldn’t find the option. Are you sure it still exists?
