What better way to show off my dog photos! Below are some fun dog facts paired with some of my personal favorite dog pictures I have taken.
Meika is my wolf dog. She is 75% wolf and 25% German Shepherd. In the photo below she is checking out where a cougar has been jumping. Look closely and the marks you see in four lines are cat prints.
Interesting fact: There are more than 150 dog breeds, divided into 8 classes. Sporting, Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non Sporting, Herding Misellaneous.
Interesting fact: About 1/3 of dogs in the United States that are surrendered to animal shelters are purebred dogs.
Interesting famous dog actor facts: Toto in the Wizard of Oz was a female, Lassie was a male, Rin Tin Tin was female, and the Taco Bell dog was a female.
Dog Breeds that end up in Animal Shelters are: Pit Bull, Australian Shepherds, Huskies, Dachshund, Boxer, Chihuahua, Beagle and German Shepherd.
Maggie is my little Aussie I adopted at the local shelter, 15 years ago. She is now around 20-22 years old the vet says.
Interesting fact: Dogs do see in color, just not as vivid as ours.
Doberman’s come in Black, Red, Fawn, Blue, White and Albino.
Meika likes her Doberman buddies.
Thanks for stopping by!
love your story
Thanks a lot Jasmine, much appreciated.
zabr10 dog
Very nice. Doge
Thank you Ibad, i wasnt sure what zabr10 dog was. lol
I adore dogs and have two of my own that are rescue. One of mine is completely blind the other abused for 7 years of her life. UK shelters are also full of dogs needing homes although we don’t have a stray problem. I love all dogs and can see beauty in every one. Meika is particularly beautiful 🙂
Thank you Linda! It’s amazing what people can do to pets isn’t it. I have another rescue, I rescued her 15 years ago. She was severely abused and vicious. I took her home and has been the best dog ever!! Meika is great as well.
i am dog lover and thanks for this pics share.
You are very welcome. Glad you liked it.
I find it very sad that the breeds that end up in the shelters are the most popular breeds, I have two shelter dogs and just lost my one baby early in March. What a great article. You have a lovely dog
True, it is hard to believe. And a lot of people think you are adopting someone elses problem and thats just not the fact. Thank you Brenda.
These are best friends of humans
True
Yes. definitely looks like a wolf dog.
; ) Acts like it too, unfortunately. lol
Thank you : )
Your beautiful dog Meika looks like a “sosie” or a twin of my beautiful Tasha. Tasha was a mix Husky and German Shepherd. Her colors were husky but her nose and ears were definitely German Shepherd. Unfortunately I had to have her euthanized three years ago at the ripe old age of about 15 years old. I miss her dearly still. But still thank you for a very beautiful post with gorgeous dog pictures.
I bet being that mix she did look like Meika, sorry for you loss!! It’s so hard. I appreciate the compliment for sure.
You are very welcome.
Wow, your post was incredible.
Thank you missy!
Meika is such a beautiful dog 😀
Thank you Janelle : D
I love animals so much. I always have special relationships with our dogs and cats. I also babysit my sister’s poodle when she goes out! Animals are very spoiled at our house.
I wouldnt want to live without a pet for sure. I will always have them in my life.
You have beautiful dogs!
Thank you Michelle : )
Cuties 🙂
Thanks Nik!
Very interesting dog facts, Kim; especially about pure bred dogs in the shelters! People paid big money for them around the Holidays!
Most common excuses are, we had to move and they wouldnt allow pets, or we got a divorce. It’s always a good idea to go to a shelter first before finding one at a breeder.
I am a huge dog lover, your post was incredible.
1. I have adopted three dogs in the past five years from rescue organizations. What rescue organizations and shelters do isn’t supported enough!
2. We spend hours picking the right dog to join our family. They are joining hopefully for 10-15 or more years as a family member!
3. Our dogs love to go on the boat, they each have an area they love to sit and watch the water go by!
I can’t imagine life without my pal!
PS No smoking dogs nearly made me fall off my chair laughing!
Thank you Doc! That is an important point you made there. Spend a few days or hours going back to the shelter, take the dog into the play yard and spend time with them before adopting. Some shelters even let you bring your other dogs to meet the new one to see if they will be a good match as well. You have lucky dogs!
Actually, our female-in-charge Labrador says she has lucky humans.
lol. right.
Interesting post and beautiful photos! Meika is gorgeous!
Thanks Ellie, she is so awesome!
Nice dogs. :). I hope none of them smokes. Hehe

Splay says “No fake news here! All woofingly true :)!” Paws up!!
Awe, tell him Meika says, Aaarrrooo, thank you!
Shall do :)!
Thank you for sharing the facts of dogs.
Glad you enjoyed them!
What I like about dogs whether they are male or female is that I have learned reading their body language when they want to go out to the bathroom.
Very detailed post Kim! Thanks for sharing!
