During the fall and winter I provide sunflower seeds in my deck feeder since the birds don’t have as many insects to eat during this time. Blue Jays often visit. They love the seeds. The cardinals visit as well. Doves, mockingbirds, woodpeckers and many others visit.
Sharing this photo with the Alphabet Crazy challenge. It also qualifies for Kim’s Color Crazy challenge.
I captured this photo from behind the patio door. They are easily scared away if they sense any movement. Their survival skills kick in.
I use my tripod for these types of photos. I leave the camera sitting and wait for the birds to arrive.
Love these beautiful blue jays. As well as all of the backyard birds.

You always know when to have your camera handy. Love the photo!
This one was at my deck feeder, so I had the tripod setup. Thanks!
There is a buzzard that has taken to landing on the rail of the deck almost every day. I think it does that because it freaks the dogs out. They bark, it glares and the day has begun.
Surely you have other birds you see besides buzzards. 🙂 That is kind of funny to read.
out on the walk we do, but our neighbors have cats on all three sides. So there are fewer birds in the trees. I don’t think the cat would mess with the Buzzard. We did have a Hawks nest in one of the trees, but the eggs have hatched and they have moved on!
A nice click of a lovely creature. I am sure you spend some time for such opportunities.
Thanks, I Iove these blue jays. I do spend a lot of time and enjoy every minute.
Another fantabulus shot Carol!! We don’t have these birds here.
Thank you for your kind comment Dawn.
Cute lovely bird indeed , thanks carol
Thank you for the visit and comment.
What a lovely blue bird.
I love these blue jays, thanks!
I love all the bird visitors, there is some varieties.
Yes I do too as well Pam, thanks.
I don’t know if they are crows or ravens, but I like their caw
The crows usually have a caw-caw sound and they are smaller than the ravens. Ravens have a deep croaking kind of voice. 🙂
then I expect they must be crows
That’s a beautiful shot of a Blue Jay. We get them, cardinals, woodpeckers, finches and an occasional hummingbird. And sparrows and grackles.
Thank you! We get all of those too but lots of hummingbirds.
At our other house we used to see swallows flitting about at dusk catching insects…and sometimes a bat!
What a lovely bluejay. Great shot.
Thanks, they are beautiful birds.
That was a good idea putting your camera on a tripod. Birds are alert I have noticed that. I have many favourtes, choosing one is difficult.
Yes I use the tripod for these and for the hummingbirds.
Have a good evening CoffeeQueen!
I was very happy to see the swallows a few days ago. I haven’t seen these birds in a long time.
I love seeing the swallows fly through as well. Good for you.
My neighbors have these in their yard often. They have gourds very high for them to nest in.
This is a really nice bird, dear Carol .. only sparrows visit me … and other birds are afraid of them … they are very offensive
Thanks, I love these Blue Jays. They are noisy but a beautiful blue! The sparrows chase off and sometimes kill my bluebirds. Not a bird I welcome in my yard although they are everywhere.
Not sure about birds being afraid of the sparrows here, but I try to chase them away.
That’s such a beautiful bird. Unfortunately, I don’t get birds like this in my garden, but I do like to watch the little sparrows and starlings.
Thats, and I am sorry you don’t see these birds.
I get sparrows but do not like those. Starlings every now and then.
Hmm, Waoo nice post!!!
Good to see you, thank you!
You have not posted in awhile, right!
