“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” is one of the oldest and best known English proverbs.
It warns against taking unnecessary risks. It is better to keep what you have (a bird) than to risk getting more and ending with nothing (two birds out of your reach).
Did you find it yet in my rose bush? There is something hiding there. I saw it from behind my camera lens. Was so excited as this is a rare shot. I hope to get closer next time.
I was trying to take some garden shots for LindaOH. She has asked for more shots showing the entire garden. I like macro photos, so I am having to look outside the box to capture more in one photo.
I will share the answer soon in case you cannot find what is hiding.

I sometimes check our small trees for birds. I found a nest on our mango tree last week.
This one is so tiny, most wold have missed it.
It is located in the left half of a branch of the large branch. Fantastic photo.
Yes I knew you would see it, I was excited.
I see a bird. I hope you can capture it closer next time.
Yes that would be perfect, but it is not always a perfect world, the closer you get, they fly away.
I see her sunning herself. Those two leaves to the right look like birds as well.
I think those are shadows, I wasn’t close enough this time.
So small bird, very interesting!!! And this proverb is very popular in my country.
Tiny hummingbird, only a couple of inches long. Rare to get them resting.
I found a very little bird in the bush.
Yes it is a tiny hummingbird, a couple of inches long.
I suspect there is something there but honestly, I can’t see it.
My guess, however, is a boll weevil!
The tiny hummingbird sits to the left, on a branch with no roses. Very tiny.
Sorry I like boll weevil better as the answer.
🙂
I see the hummingbird now…
I hope I don’t have those bugs in my garden.
well if you have cotton 🙂
They are interesting creatures for sure.
I saw a bird , am i correct ?
Yes, a tiny hummingbird is correct.
I found quite a few of the birds in there.
Only one hummingbird with lots of shadows on the leaves.
I found the bird. It is in the middle of the picture, on a branch without flowers
Yes, a tiny hummingbird, I knew you would see it. So exciting he didn’t fly before the camera click!
I think I saw 1 bird … sneaky fellow 😀
Yes, one tiny hummingbird sitting there, like I can’t see him.
Haha, he thought he is the master of disguise …
but he didn’t know that Carol has sharper eyes and a great camera!
I actually did see him right away but was still surprised he didn’t fly before the camera clicked.
I see one bird for sure, dear friend … but I just feel like there are more
No, just the one. A hummingbird sitting there for the camera.
thank you for the explanation, dear Carol
You are very welcome indeed.
Ah yes, I saw the bird too. That’s another beautiful picture. =)
Thanks, the rose bush is one of the in between stages where it is not covered in roses. But the hummingbird was a delight.
I see a bird am I correct?
Yes, it is a tiny hummingbird perched, excited!
Yes, saw 2 birds, I can tell the shape and lighting
I only saw one hummingbird, there are shadows of leaves. But who knows, maybe there were two.
A tiny black-and-white bird? It’s not a hummingbird is it?
Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Yes it is, he is resting on the roses.
So cool! That was a lucky shot! It’s not often you see them resting anywhere.
I know, I was trying to get a full photo for you and tah-dah, there he was posing for the photo.
No idea why there is so much space in my post. Too bad we cannot edit after publishing.
Never mind… it was corrected somehow.
