As expected, the first real snowfall for the season has started today. The first snow is always clean and beautiful, and the air is amazingly fresh. It’s great to take a deep breath and enjoy the cool pure air.
Anyway, the first snow means two things: more birds on the feeders, and it’s time to join Kim’s challenge for the month.
By the way, the bird on the photo is greenfinch.

Beautiful picture. It is years since it last snowed in my village.
Thank you very much! Do you like it when it snows?
Yes I like it when it snows
Great photo here, and we have had one snowfall, but the prediction is we should get a lot of snow during the month of January,
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the weather whatever it is at the moment! 🙂
Love this photograph Ellie. Wow. So beautiful. Fabulous. I had a tough time answering the two questions. We got 2 feet of snow in our mountains, but only rain on the coast. I do not see winter unless I drive up in elevation.
Thank you so much, Kim! I hope you enjoy the weather whatever it is at the moment! 🙂
Wow what a great capture!! I love it.
Thank you so much! 🙂
Ellie bird pictures are almost as treasured as her dessert posts!!
This young fellow (in the picture) looks a bit cold!
They don’t seem to like the snow much, but at least they know they can find lots of seeds here.
i bet the snow is a bit much for birds. the seeds are probably welcome in the cold!
Their life is not very easy. They have to eat their weight in seeds each day, and they are constantly stalked by cats and birds of prey. But they are smart and adaptable. I love them.
the number of birds killed by cats globally is horrible. It beats windows, wind turbines and hunting by humans combined!
That’s crazy! I can’t blame them though, it’s in their blood.
no but humans have to be more responsible. We put cats in areas where birds are not used to cats.
I like CarolDM’s model, the cats are never outside!
I don’t like the cats outside, because it’s dangerous for them as well. However, in many areas here, people still keep cats mainly as a measure against mice, so there are many cats outside.
i understand that it is a another example of humans changing the environment around them!
Yes It winter here and expecting more snow this week
It’s getting cold. Stay warm, friend!
Here in the Outaouais valley, Canada, we only had one little snowfall which has all melted and now it is all green again. I miss snow as I am a winter person through and through. That poor greenfinch does not look pleased by the falling snow…
These birds always look angry, even in spring. I hope you have a wonderful winter!
I am not sure I understand the challenges and themes. But it is wintry.
There are lots of challenges indeed, it gets confusing sometimes. But they are fun and give you post ideas.
December should have been cooler here but we have yet to feel it.
Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts!
It only snowed in some parts of our country. We don’t have any snow in my area yet.
Enjoy the weather! 🙂
Great picture of a beautiful bird, dear friend…here in winter it is only in the mountains (it has already fallen 3m of snow) but in the valleys it is not winter
Enjoy the weather, friend! 🙂
Thanks the same, dear Ellie
Titmouses started coming to the feeder because it was getting cold.
That’s true! And the feeders are always ready for them.
Beautiful photo. We rarely get snow here.
Thank you so much, Carol! I am not the biggest fan of the snow, but the first one is always exciting.
I do understand, and I love the bird.
No, we have not the snow still. But I cannot say I very wait for it.
I wasn’t looking forward to it either, but the first snow is exciting for me. I will probably hate it after two months, haha.
