As I pointed out in an earlier post, one of my entertainment, passions, or medications for fatigue, burnout, or alignment for my mental, emotional, energy, and spiritual life is walking meditation. The activity I usually do after 12:00 midnight is to get out of the house and walk through the night darkness in areas far from electric light.
From the region I live today, such areas are much easier to find because these are the suburbs. Walking in the dark gives a lot of things besides some variety of physical, mental, and emotional experiences. In such places, we can even hear and see unique unusual things, including seeing things that are not even commonly seen through the eye, let alone captured by the camera.
Quite a few people are still worried about my habit for several reasons, but for me, it is important lessons, rituals, and methods. I can understand the fear of many people over the darkness, even hatred. But I have learned so long to also love the darkness, never to be hostile to it by remembering that as can be realized or taught by the ancestors or also taught in the holy scriptures that the Divine is the Supreme Love itself and asks us to live in Love which means in Him, so why should I fear or hate the darkness? Why should I fear or hate the part of Him? Moreover, from the total darkness within me, I have found my higher-self and the source of eternal peace indefinitely. So, again, why should I stay away from the darkness?

Very interesting perspective, Albert! I don’t mind the darkness, but I don’t particularly prefer it either. I guess we need both darkness and light.
Thank you for your thought, Ellie. My apology for so slowly I respond to your comments.
Yes, you are right, Ellie. Yes, as we need hunger and satiety, that’s how we need dark and light as well, right?
Your photo is incredible and it reminds me, that there is a full lunar eclipse on the way. I will try and make a video of it. I enjoyed this article, thank you, Albert.
Hello Andre. Thanks for the compliment.
Yes, there is a full lunar eclipse on the way… Do you have any idea of it?
Your photo is great but I have the fear over the darkness.
I really understand, Milena. Very many people are afraid of the darkness.
Very interesting….I think that’s great. I only like darkness when I am sleeping….but there is nothing wrong with it.
I’m still checking if there’s a bat blood on me, Mommy.
Nice post!Thank you!
Thank you so much for the compliment, Snezana.
I have good night vision, so I actually prefer the dark- it is easier on my eyes
Ha! I understand completely! It must be because of heredity!
Neither of my parents have good night vision
Are not you a descendant of Lord Dracul?
A significant percentage of the people who know me IRL at least suspect me of being a vampire…
You are the pure descendant of that family!
In this case, I do not suspect you because you yourself have told me this secret.
My website is called Afraid of Sunlight
You are the pure descendant of that family!
Even my parents think I am a vampire
What is the current season at your place?
In Indonesia, we have only two seasons; rainy season and summer. It is now in the peak of summer even though it is still quite a lot of rain. Why Varda?
I like to set in darkness only when I have a candle on lol.
It must be a romantic event with your dear husband!
Mostly I put candles on when it storms. I will remember your suggestions lol.
Why you use something beauty only in times of storms? It will definitely be special in heavenly times. lol
I only dislike the darkness for when I can’t see clearly…
Other than that… it depends on the level of darkness…
I feel insecure when I can’t see too clearly,
and I believe this is why many fear or dislike darkness
I can really understand you, my friend. For me, ignoring the insecurity or fear and replacing it with full confidence that “there is something guarding me” is a valuable lesson and experience.
Hmm… you mean your guardian angels or …?
I believe everyone have one even though I don’t believe in religion…
It’s kinda weird but … lol
I have proved the ancient Javanese teaching that we all have four guardian angels, and they do take care of us, or will tempt us in so many ways in order we intend and can recognize them.
Hmm… I believe it will be an interesting topic, about other religion that I don’t know about…
Indeed that’s so interesting and unfortunately is not about religion.
Hmmm… now I wonder …
Spirituality is not always related to religion, because with or without religion, we are spiritual beings
Hmm… that’s true…
but hard to gasp :p
Good for you embracing the darkness. I like stillness and darkness inside but not so much outside only for safety reasons.
I think the darkness outside is part of life that matters to me, but I do not recommend it to others, especially for women.
Sounds like you have found what works for you, that is a good thing. Enjoy!
I’ve been doing it for a long time, probably since the beginning of 2000, so, much things have been gained.
There is a magic in the darkness. Even though we fight it, push it away and try to lock it in a box. It is something that is a part of us.
I think darkness is at least a third part of our lives, our sleep time with our eyes closed, dark, though that dark time has neglected because we do not realize it, and from the darkness of sleep, the universe works to restore fitness, health, or heal us.
I remember loving the fall of the night as a child. Back then the fireflies would appear (living in Indiana). Chasing them around the field was a magical time for me. The cool night air pulling the hot away from the world.
Yes!!! I also remember those times, and those were magical times indeed and really really fun!
