do not question do not ask

what lies behind the mast?

Is it someone that we know

or a stranger hidden behind

the mask? The snow falling

behind us as we pause.

Do we dare pull the mask? Tug on the strings

that bind it to the back of the head and

pull the mask free

of the face. Do we dare?

or worse as we stumble and wonder

do we want to know who is there?

  2. So how old is this poem? ? Would be interesting to know.

Mask. Ahhhh, every single person has a mask he or she wears depending on his or her audience. There is a mask for acquaintances, another for kindred spirits, another for friends, another for family – – – and likely another that is known only to the person ?

  3. I keep folders of all the things I wrote over the years on various sites. Some of them I revamp and post on other places and some I find I knew too little when I began and I only jot notes about information from them I could use and then toss them. It is interesting to note that even poetry I once wrote I would not consider good today.
