Some people say that life is long enough but not wide enough to do all the things we want to do. Here are some of the things I managed to do this year. Some sound big, but they are just some small steps I took in the right direction.
What about you? How many of these things have you done this year?
Visited a new place;
Learnt something new;
Read interesting books;
Saw interesting movies;
Made new friends;
Learnt a new skill;
Spent time in nature;
Conquered a fear;
Felt more grateful;
Recycled more;
Reduced plastic use (a little bit);
Cooked more;
Tried something new;
Did some Christmas activities, including watching Christmas movies, buying gifts, drinking hot chocolate and Christmas tea, and eating Christmas cookies.

That sounds like a good thing to do.
Thank you very much, Pamela!
I have become very selective in accepting new friends, so no new friends this year. I didn’t visit new places. I think I’m allergic to everything “new”.??
As long as you are happy, that’s what matters! 🙂
☑️Travel, ☑️nature, ☑️books, ☑️movies, ☑️friends (depends how you define it because in this age we tend to call people we know and like as friends; from my POV, a friend is somebody who will accept my perfection and imperfection, call my shit shit and love me just the same)
Skill? If you consider annoying people (and dogs and cats) as skill then I am on it ???
You made a great point about friends!
Annoying others is a skill, but did you learn it this year, lol
No. I was born with it ???. Luckily it was not the cause of my mother’s death ?
I think you are just pretending! Coconuts are soft on the inside despite the many layerd and hard shell. ?
My dear gorgeous lady, where did you get the coconut reference, I am wondering ???
We already established you are the coconut and I am the hazelnut. And we both love the coconut song, but I am a bit jealous because there’s no famous hazelnut song, lol.
Apparently, there is a hazelnut song but it is a sad tune https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07nr9qx ?. Let us just call you the gorgeous one ?
Now, on coconuts, I remember it was our exchange in a different post ??? I am an old pixie and can therefore claim temporary senility ?. Young coconuts are soft inside. We make that into fruit salad. Matured coconuts are not soft but have many uses.
A minor song matches my personality even better, lol.
As long as the senility is temporary, everything is okay! 😀
I dunno. When I think of Ellie, a Fergie (of Blackeyed Peas) song would be more like it ?. Let me catch up with your post some other day. My battery is going down, down, downnnn ?
Even when I saw that “down down down” I thought of a metal song, lol.
Not Fergalicious but Elicious ?
Ellieciouuuuuuuuuus! ?
great list!
The only one I would say I failed at, was conquering a fear. I am still working on my fear and actually have been for the past few years.
I am full of fears myself, but sometimes just baby steps in the right direction can make a huge difference.
that is very true, my fear sadly is really internalized and I sturggle with even baby steps.
Hope things get better soon!
i believe fear is part of what makes me me. All works out in the end!
That’s a good point! As long as it doesn’t bother your normal life, everything is okay.
i learned long ago, I am the captain of my ship.
if I hit the rocks, I know who was steering my boat!
To say the truth, I have done many of the things you mention.
That’s wonderful, hope next year is even better!
I’m with you in your happiness. You’ve inspired me to write down a list on paper of a lot of happy moments this year.
Glad to hear that! I have a notebook where I write such things, and rereading it in hard times really helps. It’s difficult to recall all good things when the mood is down.
I agree! We do have down times every now and then. Deliberately remembering good times in the past is good medicine. Thank you.
I always find new adventures in my writing projects online and learn as I go along.
I am happy to hear that! There’s a lot to learn in every situation.
I have done many new things this year, life is an adventure to me so I enjoy every new place, book, skill and so on.
I am very happy to hear that! Hope next year is even better!
I just did everything I didn’t read any books and I didn’t watch any new movies either … books and movies are not my favorite thing
Glad to hear that you were able to do the things you enjoyed!
I had such a job that I really enjoyed it even though it was sometimes tiring, dear Ellie
I managed to do a couple of new things this year … I visited some new places, spent a lot of time in nature, made many beautiful walks, spent more time with friends, etc. I think I’ve done a lot more for myself than in previous years.
I am very happy to hear you had a wonderful and productive year! Hope 2020 is even better! 🙂
I love that quote about life not being wide enough, never heard that before. An impressive list you have here. I would love to travel more one day. Nice photo as well.
Thank you so much, Carol! Travelling is on my list as well. Hopefully, 2020 will be an even better year for all of us!
