Winter Birds

We’ve been feeding the wild birds around our home for the last couple of years. We mostly leave sunflower seeds for them, but after I saw photos of birdies eating fat balls, I wanted to get some for them. Finally, I got one packet. These balls are made out of seeds, nuts, and animal fat.

At first, it seemed that our birds still preferred eating seeds, but I noticed that a few birds started paying attention to the balls too. They already ate one completely.

I only managed to capture a few photos of the great tits (funny name). Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a decent shot of the blue tits eating. They are really cute, but they usually eat while standing on the ball and my camera can’t focus. Anyway, I’m glad that they aren’t hungry.

I’m sorry for the bad quality of the photos; I took them through the window.

  1. Adore feeding birds in winter time & birdwatching, my favorites are Cyanistes caeruleus, I call them “birds in bicycle helmets” cause think that there is great similarity! Thank you very much for this cutest post!!!

  10. How lovely of you to think of the birds…nice shots. I had the same focus problem when I try to take a photo of a cat I met haha the cute thing keeps moving and all I get are blurred shots

    • Oh, I understand you completely! Cat’s are difficult to take photos of. Especially if they are not familiar with the camera; they think it may be some kind of food. 😀

  11. What a great idea. I have made homemade suet and put it in my suet feeders and in the trees. Certain birds like them, some enjoy the open sunflower seed feeder. Great photos.
