I was trying to capture this beautiful blue swallowtail in my garden earlier. I thought I had him until I clicked the camera and off he went. But I managed to capture his wings. You can get an idea of how big this beauty is by the width of his wings. I am sure he will return again for another photo shoot. He still made my day in Dustin’s garden. Always enjoy all the visitors. I decided to edit him in black and white since he was flying away. But his colors are stunning. Soon I will get another photo.

Good then we will just wait and see.
I posted it and there are lots of opinions.. a good thing. That is how we learn.
Now if I could get the butterflies to cooperate and not fly away when I am
trying to photograph them. 🙂
Here is a link: https://virily.com/virily_poll/color-version-of-outstretched-wings/
Yes I saw it alreay and it’s nice also.
Great butterfly image, even in black and white
Thanks, most of his color was covered up. So I went with black and white.
You are a real artist and you find yourself quickly
How kind of you to say! I just posted the color version. You will see why I went with the black and white. 🙂
Oh please let us see the colored version of this.
I will have to do that. Thank you.
Again a great shot of a butterfly
Thats, it was a very special moment.
… and it has been posted! 🙂
really good shot Carol
Thanks so much, I love the butterflies.
Woah….. What a shot. Dang, Carol. It’s perfect for a black and white. Really perfect.
Thank you Kim, I caught it so quickly I had no idea how it would turn out.
Not everyone can catch a butterfly by the butt! 😉
Ha ha that is too funny, I laughed outloud, much needed too. 🙂 🙂
Black and white photographs always cause admiration.
The incredible sharpness of the insect while flying, Bravo Carol.
I agree Robin. Thank you very much for the kind comments.
If the colour version is not sharp enough or the contrast is mot high, sometimes a B/W makes editing easier…
juts my own laziness in editing
I agree about the editing. Thanks for commenting.
In my opinion a black and white edit is better than the color version.
Thanks, your opinion is appreciated.
My pleasure to share my likes on this site.
very beautiful black and white photo
Thanks a lot Branka.
I think it still turned out great even though he was flying away! It’s awesome in black and white!
Thanks again for your kind comment.
all the artists I know agree that if the image doesn’t work in greyscale that it probably isn’t going to work in color
Indeed I agree with this. I usually like my butterflies in color but this one seemed to work like it is.
yeah, butterflies usually demand color
If anyone can catch him in action you can lol.
Oh I got lucky with this one. It does take time and patience.
We post the insects together, but your butterfly is clearer!
Hey… Btw, these days it’s hard to visit or comment with a lot of errors here
I sat and waited to get this one Albert. Tell me about the errors. I had to work on this post for over 30 minutes. Finally gave up and came back. I think it’s ok now. Who knows.
