Sharing a black swallowtail from my spring garden. They enjoyed both butterfly bushes this past spring and summer. Looking forward to seeing them again next spring.
This butterfly looked a little ragged. He actually was more of a brown color instead of the black I usually see.
If only they could talk and tell me the journey they have been on. They do not live long and when I see one tattered like this one, I know he has really been though something but he survived another day. Much to learn from nature.

Although I don’t see many butterflies I miss them.
I see a lot now in the garden, so they are missed during the winter.
