The lights shine brighly against the night
we are huddling in the pool of light
driving away the night. It is cold
and we are cupping our ears
to catch the sound, the noise
that the darkness layers like
a chocolate cake with
seven layers
frosting, cake and something
we steel ourselves
aginst something
it is less the night
than the fear
less the f
in the light
together though
we sit
bound against the scary night
bathing in the light…

Nice picture and even more beautiful song … I have quite a few good friends and childhood tosha
the path to adulthood is often lined with friends!
And even today, we often get together and what we say and what beer we drink
i have a dear friend that works in DC around twice a year. We do the same thing, go, sit and remember!
These are really nice moments, dear friend
It is, we’ve been doing that twice a year for nearly 20 years now
Sad to lose friends and relatives..I have worked as a home carer for many years and one never gets over grief when someone dies.
I suppose you keep going but life shows me, that we must treasure each and every person we meet… The legacy is having known those special people in our lives and never ever take anyone for granted
that is so true Pam, we must find a way to treasure all that walk with us!
Delightful photo and wonderful poem. Friends do make days brighter.
They do in fact make life better!
Wonderful song. I have had a wonderful friend for over 20 years.
i have been blessed with great friends for many years. It makes life an easier journey!
I wrote love poetry at a young age.
so did I – i haven’t shared any of those yet.
Very nice photo and very nice poem!
I have many friends in good and bad are together!
And I always try to be with them!
I do as well, friends are so important. Thanks Pal!
What a great photo and memories as expressed in the poem.
Thank you Carol. Today, your kind words really helped me!
Beautiful. Is your dog your best friend???
yes my dog is my best pal! He hangs out with me, reminds me to get outside and walk and protects me!
Nobody protects you like a dog!!!
that is so true. We were out walking one day when a rutting buck came charging at us. My dog, stood his ground and growled (the only time I’ve ever heard him growl). The much larger deer, stopped sniffed and went the the other way.
See you are a great poem Doc. and loved ones do make the world go round better.
I was in school with a number of great poets. I am OK. but you are a very nice person!
Awe, this photo is priceless. Love it as well as the poem!
she loved that dog, and Fran loved her back!
Is that your dog? I had a Labrador, but she died a few years ago. I still miss her very much.
My husband is my high school best friend. I always think he makes me better, and hence the world around me better as well. 🙂
that is my daughters do who died sadly 5 years ago. We do still have labs at home though! Nice that your husband was your best friend first!
