First of all, thank you to everyone that voted. I want to give the admin team a good list of the things we, as authors, find critical. I am going to try a new poll today if it doesn’t work I will go back to the usual survey tomorrow. If this works, I will end the results to the admin team. I have cut this down to five questions. The reality is it takes way too long to do polls or quizzes with more questions than 4 or 5.
I would love to report that views were up this weekend, but sadly there were down again. The rate to 100 pictures (which measure internal to the site and external views) is also down. The other thing to note is that while once you had to have 75 views in 20 hours to get the trending note. Now you can get trending at less than 50 pictures and be trending.
The other thing I noticed is a lack of posts over the weekend, and I know several authors have pending posts, they haven’t cleared moderation yet. That makes me sad. We, as a site, depending on the interaction of authors, The only way to create viral at a reasonable rate now is to have conversations. But conversations require posts, and we don’t have lots of new posts. My vote is the number one top issue is getting that moderation queue down to no more than 48 hours except for the weekends.
We lost an author over the weekend in part because they were tired of waiting. We lost another author a month ago; she was also tired of waiting.
I am shaking up my poll game today.
Let me explain how the poll works, pick your top issues. The lowest score (average closest to 1) will be the most critical presented to the admin team. The highest rating is then the least vital (if everyone picks three, then the total for that particular question goes up! So remember one is critical for you, two is essential to you and three is something we need but willing to wait for!

AGAIN!! I am waiting for a post to be published after having submitted it many days ago. This is happening since May. I think there are less people working for Virily now so they last a lot to publish posts because even though sometimes they lasted to publish posts they are now lasting too much. I believe Virily has fewer employees now because of the pandemic.
i think that is possible it is critical to get the quick turn around on new articles! But you can always build a queue. When I was first here (i have said this many times sorry for the repeat) I often had more than 10 posts awaiting moderation at any one time.
I have one waiting for nearly a week here now too.
I have no interest in queues. I have always hated them.
If one of my articles turns out to be rejected, in a queue, it deflates my efforts.
I am encouraged to write by submissions being immediately posted, not waiting in queues, or being rejected for petty reasons.
I quoted the Bible, of all things, and my article was summarily rejected for plagiarism.
The Bible has been quoted for thousands of years, and it was just one small line that I quoted from. I referenced chapter, and verse too, but I did not include a link to the verse.
This really annoyed me at the time. I was nearly going to leave the site over this.
Viewing 1 – 18 Of 6,748 Active Members.
Is there really this many active members here?
What percentage of them would be verified users, I wonder?
The percentage of verified users is pretty small my guess would be of the real users of the site ever (around 2000 at the height) you have at most 100 verified users.
Many of the overall numbers you are seeing are spam users.
Your poll is concise and useful as always. Thank you.
THanks pal, that means a lot! Now hopefully the admins agree!
My last post waiting for a11dyas as of now to get approved.
that is a driver for this – we have to have faster turn around. Too many people in the waiting game for a post to be approved.
Yes, That is very much required. You are doing a good job.
thank you for the kind words. That was very nice of you!!!
Very well-designed poll.
What I voted #1 for : Fix the drafts issue
What I voted #3 for: we would like the edit button back
Everything else I gave a #2
I see the drafts issue as absolutely make or break. Even if the quiz/poll etc. software is not working optimally, if you the option to save draft you can fix the problems as you create a post, before posting. In the current situation, without draft/preview, and without the option to edit after posting, you are really working blind and hoping for the best.
looks like drafts is the overall number 1.
More communication number 2.
Faster turn around on post moderation – number 3.
actually not what I was expecting at all. But the cool thing is my format worked!
gives me a much better view of the data than yes no, or yes and this one is most important to me.
Thank you very much for persisting and I hope you will at least partially succeed. I feel sorry for the lost members.
i know most of them, i will let them know if we get things working better!
Is it a “secret” which members are these?
it is not a secret it is simply people that are tired or frustrated with waiting. Artbytes26 is one of them.
I agree. People have enough of everything once and for all.
i agree and it makes me sad. I hope the situation is fixable.
I like the edit button because sometimes I think my post is dandy and when I reread it…
i miss that button as long as we reduce the risk of someone editing a post and being at the top of the most commented list day after day.
I get the ‘trick’ to it but am more into being able to correct silly mistakes esp. when the paragraphing goes wrong
my fear is that they would bring back the edit button that many on the site used to their advantage, blocking other users and starting the decline and fall of this site.
How did that happen? How could you editing your work effect me
so when a post makes the most commented list it gains between 10-20 views (it used to be 40 views) over the same post without having the comments.
So if someone edits an older post with 20 comments, it appears on the most commented list and knocks another post off that list.
okay… never thought of it…didn’t even know about the comment list
it can have a big impact on views overall.
bad when old posts kick new ones out. Then one person wins and somebody loses.
Great poll and the questions are all spot on. Good luck to all of us.
i like the way you put that – good luck to all of us!
Hmm, pretty awesomw doc!
thanks Hamza I am glad you found value
Glad you are helping the site to improve Thank you brother
i am as they say “on it” 🙂
All those poll questions are valid. It’s sad we’re losing authors due to waiting. I think it’s better they come up with a newbie window period for new writers, say, three months, then after that they become verified users. Just my thoughts. Or, they reduce the waiting hours before becoming verified.
that is an awesome suggestion! the first batch of verified writers had to wait about 8 months. The second blast waited about a year. The third batch was all sorts of time spent on the site.
that is a great idea
Thanks. From your description, I was in the second batch. It took me a year to be verified.
ok – so i would think somewhere between 6 months to 9 months would be fair.
Yes, that period would be fair to verify new users
thanks pal – i will do a poll on the verified user thing I thing that is of value!
