I’ve had lots of great conversations and want to thank everyone – the community has responded to the change by making a considerable effort to comment more! I committed and will continue to return the comments of everyone that feedback, and I will go out of my way to make sure I comment on the posts of others when I read them. Change is never easy, and it is fantastic to see the community pulling together.
Based on our exceptional community, I am going to do what I can do to help! One of the things that have worked, and we’ve gotten responses from the Admin team (by recognizing changes), is doing what you would like to see in our platform going forward. Based on that, I will continue to post the questions about things authors want to see. We have a few that are outstanding. I am reminding everyone that voting yes or no is wholly your choice. But authors ask for various things, and that is ok. There are no right or wrong answers, and let’s be civil about the asks. If you have a high point about one of the things that have been asked in the past, please feel free to add the end but remember the human.
As a reminder of the power of our community, some of the requested change we have made is listed below:
- Remove the downvote button on the comments!
- Ability to block a user (we can argue this one)
- Edit function for posts (I know granted then removed)
- Permanently removing reported comments
We are a robust community when we work together! Vote for as many of these as you think are critical!

Now that my Internet is more stable in the past few days than the last month and a half, I think I could spend more time here now.
As for your questions, I think it would be better to upload a smaller-sized image than large ones. It would help maintain the speed of the site.
interesting – thanks for that – anything else you would like to see?
I’m observing what other changes happened while I was inactive here… it seems we are no longer gaining points for the comments that we write… I will see if I receive a point from the comment that you just made on my post “Dried Fish for breakfast”
😀
that is correct now it is all about conversations. the new way to ear on verily is to start conversations.
my next gut is that they will limit the number of comments an author can make on their own post.
Doc you were born to be a leader. I’m sure your subordinates will be very pleased. I see you helping us all. Thank you. I want all the changes. I hope we will have more frequent communication from the administrative team
i am posting a longer one today! I would love all of them as well!

Thank you so much Doc for that post. I didn’t answer some of your questions because am not here enough to know what is going on.
what you know is important to you – so thanks for reading and commenting!!!
I think communication is very important. They have made major changes on this site and not a squeak from the admin is a bad sign.
not to be an apologist but to be an apologist – they did in the origins of Virily have a persistent Chat function and they did communicate well then.
The admin needs to openly communicate with admin. It feels as if we an island. It wouldn’t hurt for them to communicate.
yes, that and add the draft functionality back appear to be the two big asks!
We will slowly get used to these changes. I miss better communication and would be glad if the edit button came back. I’ve never used other features (blocking, reporting comments …).
we will slowly get used to things. thanks for contributing and of course we will eventually get used to the new site.
I do not want to be too overwhelmed by these changes. I do it with pleasure. I have had quite a few problems and in the light of that, I could have left this page long ago
yes you could have, it is a testament to your commitment that you are still here! Thank you for staying, and thank you for all your wonderful posts!
Thank you also for all your support, help, encouragement, etc. I love being here because of such members.
well, my friend, I will same the exact same to you! Virily is a community for me! People I care about, and people I want to help!
I would love to see the draft function be useable. Also more communication from the admins would be nice. It should pull the community together.
the drafts issue will be added for tomorrows poll!
Some of these are great suggestions, but the most important thing for me right now is fixing the draft function and the ability to at least edit draft posts.
10-4 (sorry radio user slange for affirmative)
will add fix drafts for tomorrows poll
The last question to me is the most important, as you know. I have been talking about communication for years now. I hope every day for improvement.
it has been on every make our site better poll I’ve done and sent to the admin team.
I couldn’t agree with you more!
I liked the edit button because sometimes I think I was perfectly clear, and then when I reread I see that I was not, and would like to fix my article.
i miss the edit button as well
One thing here really stands out to me. No wait, two things. First I love the way you said “our” site. If we think of it that way then I believe we will make an effort to take care of it better. The second thing was all the tags you had up there. I really need to learn more about how, when, and which ones I should be adding. (In case you run out of things to teach me Doc!)
i do the tags for some of the internet readers that follow me on other sites. thanks for the shout out – it is our site authors and admins!
It reminds me that we are all accountable. We are either part of the solution or part of the problem.
that is an awesome way to put it!
