One of the things that I suspect most of us want here on Virily, as well in our lives, in general, is stability. Recently I have been having a conversation with another user on the Private Message system here on Virily. They were concerned that some of their posts were published, and then unpublished. Right after that, I saw Alex’s post about the issue he was having issues as well. Recently, I published a post in Kim’s #songsaturday challenge, and I also noticed a problem. For example, in the notifications related to that post, I couldn’t go to those comments. I couldn’t. Go into my profile, posts and select that blog and open it. That only happened with the one post (with the # in the title).
• If we walk back in time a couple of years, the site was down for nearly three days two years ago. It was down last fall a couple of times. The good news the site has achieved much greater resilience and uptime. There has not been a response to the FAQs we put together as a community. I have sent them twice, and while I do understand the admin team is swamped, it would be nice to get updated FAQs for the site.
• The wish list of features has also fallen on deaf ears.
• So again, reminder, the site hasn’t been down in many weeks.
• We still can’t edit comments or edit posts that have been submitted.
• Users still feel like they can say and send anything in a private message.
o Comments are a critical connection to other authors. Being rude when commenting only makes you look bad.
o Not being honest with the community and sharing things in a private message is the coward’s way out.
Templates are stable, and other than polls, all of them seem to be functioning properly now. We still get credit for uploading two pictures (if you upload more, as I always do, you don’t get credit for 2). We also get no credit for guest views. That is a double situation and remains a problem. When you look at your views on Virily, some of the views you get are guest views. You do not get virils for guest views of your posts. You only get virils for views from site members.
Still, the site is more stable, so the good news is things are better. Perhaps there are more changes to come. I suspect the issues the user that reached out to me, and the issue that Alex had, were related to overall site changes. I do not know this for a fact, and it is simply an educated guess.

Edit comments would be great even if they won’t let us edit posts. I think the site has been stable for the most part.
if I recall Edit Comments was the number one user ask when I sent this up to Virily!
Nice to have stability, but I would like to correct my mistakes after but cant…
i agree that was the number one thing the community wanted!
Yes, I’d like to be able to edit my posts. Sometimes I don’t notice I’ve made a mistake until I’d submitted it, like a small typo or something. I wish I could correct this.
i catch them (in my own posts) and grimace! ditto on fixing my errors!

Although the access sometimes is slow but it’s pretty good with no downtime.
we had many long periods of downtime in 2018. A couple of times down for nearly an entire day!
Right now everything seems to be working just fine. I do still have to keep refreshing the page to get the questions and the thumbnail photo in when I do my polls but in the end, it all works out. when it comes to doing quizzes I also had to keep refreshing but when I add photos then everything comes out just fine. Go figure. However, basically I have no complaints here,
the templates and uploads need some TLC. Polls and quizzes still have a few quirks. I had forgotten about that because honestly I just roll through the process and don’t think about the steps.
The site is really working fine for a while now. I hope it will stay that way. Too bad you didn’t get a response, at least what a suggestion Virily might consider
I am hoping that they are considering the community created suggestions and FAQ. we shall see!
Well written but now this paragraph worries me a little. “When you look at your views on Virily, some of the views you get are guest views. You don’t get virils for guest views of your posts. You only get virily for views from the site members ”
Because I don’t know why I get virily point , though you wrote.?.
Basically look at it this way.
You have 100 views on a post of yours.
50 viewers were made by virily members.
50 views by non-members.
You get credit for the 50 members (130 if you published a story, 250 if it is a quiz or poll).
you get all the views counted for trending. But only the views by actual Virily members give you Virils.
I cannot comment on the value because I am not a regular lately. But I am against the removal of personal messages.
I’ve missed your pictures, I hope everything is ok!
I’m also of the opinion that private messages should not be abolished …. here, for example, I can trust you with a thing that is not necessarily known to everyone at Virily
yeah that was probably an extreme view on my part. I get tired of the nasty messages I get.
That’s what I believe, dear friend … report them and block them
you can’t block private messages on Virily. I wish you could.
That’s what Virly should do … block the person sending the offensive private messages
Some good points made here. I would certainly like the software to be more robust, so that what appears is what you thought you had submitted and text does not simply disappear – e.g. with poll/quiz questions and answers.
yeah the missing content issue is one that I find very interesting. It keeps raising its ugly head.
Thanks for the mention Doc. It is great to see the site up for awhile. I hope you get a reply soon fro your questions.
As for the PM, I don’t think they should do away with it. I have users that confide in my, with personal issues, nothing to do with Virily most of the time. Just my opinion.
I get messages asking for help.
I get the same as you, outside of Virily issues.
But on occasion, I just get PM’s that are nasty.
