Sharing a photo of a ruby-throated hummingbird on my deck feeder. This was taken a few months ago, after a rain shower. We need rain now so bad.
The ruby-throated hummingbird flies 500 miles nonstop across the Gulf of Mexico during both its spring and fall migrations.
Hummingbirds lay the smallest eggs of all birds. Their eggs measure less than 1/2 inch long but may represent as much as 10 percent of the mother’s weight at the time the eggs are laid.
A hummingbird egg is smaller than a jelly bean!
This photo will be shared with Alibb’s Alphabet Crazy challenge. I am still on the letter “H”.

It is not just a beautiful photograph. You have managed to show the real size of hummingbird.
Thanks that is what I was going for.
We have a lot of humming bird in our area
That is great you see these birds.
Such beauties these types of birds are. Great photo!
I agree they are beautiful, thank you!
Oh I see the rain. That is so neat. She is lovely, and good job on clicking as the sun lit up her throat. I have a ruby red that visits my butterfly bush at exactly 3:45 each afternoon. She doesn’t mind me sitting right next to her as she feeds.
You are the only one who noticed the rain Kim! Thank you! 🙂 Mine are all gone now I believe.
What a cute little oiseau-mouche (hummingbird in French). Yes we see them here in the Outaouais valley but rarely and none with that shade of red such as your photo. Oiseau mouche actually literally mean fly bird and I tend to agree because they are so small and so quick just like a fly.
Thank you! I was lucky to get this one in the rain. They are gone now until next season. The sun luckily hit hit just right so you could see his red throat here.
We don’t have hummingbirds in New Zealand, lovely photo and capture
Thank you Pam, they are gone now until the spring.
what a great picture both of the hummingbird and the feeder!
Narnia is a paradise for birds!
Thanks Doc, I think they are all gone now for the season.
I get to see humming birds in pictures and on videos only. Beautiful.
They are so cool to watch Dawn.
I like the breeder too, I am not sure if we have it now or not.
Thanks, they are a favorite.
We have them here. They mostly come for the Chinese Hats.
I like your bird feeder. Looks cute.
That is great, thank you.
I doubt if I would put this bird in my palm. I would be afraid to hurt her
You would not have a chance, they are so fast. The only time I have is when I found one injured.
Hummingbirds don’t live here, my friend
I know but I still like to share.
I have never seen hummingbirds where I live.
That is too bad, they are incredible!
I have never met these birds live! Nice post!
Thanks, I hope you can see one somewhere eventually. They are a challenge to photograph, as they move very fast.
