I promised the followup post from earlier (Saturday). I will send the results of the polls to the admin team on Tuesday around noon eastern US time.

  1. The top ask is we would as a community like Editing back. Not, the editing that was released last year. We would love to see editing again, but when edited, a post should keep its old information (views and comments) but should count as a brand new post going forward.
  2. Community asks would be for more communication =- the current suggestion we have is to add a banner to the top of the site that lets us know when massive site changes or little site changes are occurring. As a community, we genuinely understand that communication is not available, and we feel this would allow for more author satisfaction.
  3. We would like to see the site add Social Media style (Twitter, Instagram, etc.) style blocking. A blocked user cannot interact with you in any way.
  4. More transparency on new post-approval. People come to the site to read fresh content.
  5. A return of drafts functionality. Many authors save drafts and need that functionality back.
  6. We would love to see the return of guest view credits. We understand that there would be a maximum of guest views per day.

  5. I would like to add, Doc, that they should speed up the approval/rejecting of posts. I already have 7 posts pending, and the first one is already 7 days old.
    It’s actually discouraging. I might once again take a hiatus from this site and focus somewhere else.

  6. I sure hope that is can all be done. One of the most critically needed is that edit button because many of our posts go out to social media sites too and it looks very unprofessional if there are mistakes that we could not correct.

  10. If you notice, the user/viewer base has shrunk. There was a time you would post at 9 am and by 9:10 there were three or more posts that followed yours. Now, you can post and three hours pass and maybe no one else posts, or just one.

    Where other sites encourage users, this once chases them. The mock ‘approval’ which is only to delay to prevent earning, the crap about image which wastes everyone’s time, the absence of Admin, I could go on.

    What is needed?

    1. Respect for users
    2. Active Admin
    3. End of Mock ‘approval’….(look at how many articles have poor spelling, bad grammar, and say nothing… meaning no one read it before publishing)

        • So far there has been a series of response times.

          the first time in Jan 2019 there was about a month, but they fixed one issue.
          In July 2019 they responded in about 2 weeks and fixed roughly 1/2 what we asked for.

          In March 2020, no response, but they removed comment downvotes in less than 3 days.

          • This is the Internet. This is not you putting a letter in a mail box where it goes to head office, then to the right postal office and then is hand placed in your box. To respond should not take an hour. So that is point 1.

            Take my crummy 3rd world bank… and the fact we are on lock down. A comment I posted on their Facebook page just before logging off for the night, had a response when I logged on in the morning.

            Subsequent online communication became almost instantaneous.

            You can try it yourself with various entities; not those which only exist online, but those which have human being in front of them, hard copies to deal with around them.

        • So your “crummy” bank is regulated by the government. Regardless of country they are bound by international and then national law so your example doesn’t apply.

          Please explain what you mean by the respect the user?

          Does that mean making Virily safe for posting? Good communication from the admins?
