This cayenne pepper tree is fruitful and ready to be picked. Actually, this tree grows in the pot of a bonsai because I often throw the remaining wet food into several pots to become a natural fertilizer. This kind is one of the many types of cayenne pepper in Indonesia.
Very many Indonesians who are very fond of spicy food and eat chili directly without being processed is one way to enjoy the desired spicy flavor, for example when people eat fried tofu or fried tempeh and others. In contrast to other types of chilies used by processing it first in cooking, such as many kinds of red chili types for various Indonesian cooking like rendang, fried rice, various kinds of sambal (chili pepper with various spices such as onions etc.), stir-fry, and others.
Because of the spicy taste of this chili, there is a term used as a feedback or meaning of a person’s specific utterance with “his words spicy like cayenne pepper”.

PS. Ghost peppers are brutal to harvest, gloves and a face mask is helpful. Don’t ever rub your eyes!
I’ve started gardening and cooking since childhood, well, at least cooking water… lol… then my eyes are familiar with onions and various types of chili… But that’s great for romantic drama actors
My tastes have changed over the years. I like spicy rather than downright hot. I was raised on the border of Mexico, everything is hot. lol I’ve grown Ghost peppers, Jalapeno, Bell, and those tiny hot slender ones, my favorite is the Poblano.
That means you no longer need a fan near your mouth when eating spicy food.
I’ve never been able to eat foods that are spicy hot. I don’t even like raw onions.
Could be understood. So many people don’t like spicy food.
I love spicy food, largely because my own cooking sucked and like countless bachelors before me, I came to realize that no matter how lousy your cooking is, if you spice it up enough it tastes better!
See… Again we have another something in common…
but as a result of this, I don’t think anything less than a ghost chili is hot anymore…
So, the important thing is there is a spicy feel on your tongue without the need to measure the level again…
I just don’t like bland food. I never did but now anything less than habanero isn’t spicy for me. It is like mutually assured destruction but with taste buds
Maybe you should plant your own chili…
I have some chili plants in my yard but they don’t grow fast enough
Hopefully, the plant is quick to bear fruit and can immediately enliven your life.
I just use them all, none are left and then I have to buy chili at the store again
That means, for all your spicy needs you need to have a chili plantation.
Pretty much. Nice thing about chili plants is bugs tend to leave them alone
Right. The leaves may be eaten by caterpillars but the fruit is not.
They usually avoid the plant altogether and just eat the plants next to the chili. Out here anyway, perhaps in your neck of the woods the bugs are a little more used to it…
Funny too, do the caterpillars in my area prefer to be spicy?
Seriously, they may have evolved a tolerance. It happens all the time…
I love spicy food, but not so spicy that it burns my mouth and I am not able to taste the other ingredients.
You have a good reason and you have a complete taste of food.
Here in Bulgaria, some elder people always start a meal with something spicy to boost their appetite. I always joke that if you are not hungry, then just don’t eat.
There is a little similarity here, spicy is considered as a booster or appetite enhancer.
Thank you, Tas. My brother doesn’t like spicy like you too, he will refuse to eat if see any chili on his plate, even a tiny shredded skin of it.
Hahaha… Looks like I found a balance that fits here between those who like and do not like spicy food.
Yes, right. Of course, it is, Tas
Thank you very much again, my friend.
No problem, Tas. I always late too lately…
I am always in the minority as I cannot handle spicy.
I think you and many others who can not handle spicy are the majority. Hahaha…
I just cannot taste the food when the spicy takes over.
Yes, I understand it. I know enough friends who do not like spicy like you. Together with me, quite a lot of fellow consultants from abroad who want to taste Indonesian cuisine and some challenge himself to eat spicy food, and many are unable to continue eating for his second spoon. Imagine, eating in a restaurant with spicy food that has a spicy level of 1 to 9, and they even fail at the first level at first bite. Hehe…
We all have our likes and dislikes.
Of course, Carol. Like you, my brother cannot handle spicy, he even refuses to eat if he saw a red spot of chili skin on his plate.
Once you get burned it is hard to forget.
Yayaya, Carol. We learn from experience, right?
Hmm… I can’t really answer the first one…
I usually won’t go for spicy food but it depends if it’s delicious… like curry, I love curry and Kimchi… they’re all spicy …
That means you can eat (rather) spicy cuisine but not a fan of spicy food. As far as I know, curry and kimchi have a spicy flavor but not enough to burn let alone explode. lol
Nope, I can’t handle spicy food well … I’m start to have “running nose” if the food is spicy, but I guess if it’s delicious then its worth the trade :p
Btw, I tried the super spicy cup noodles … I strand of the noodle and I KO-ed… and I told myself never to eat something so spicy ever again!!
lol…
Can be understood but quite confusing either… You can’t handle spicy food well but you are OK if it is delicious… Is that just bit spicy or super spicy like that super spicy cup noodles?
Super super super …. Killer spicy!!
This is part our staple diet. I can’t even go 3 weeks without chilies. Peppers are great but a little too mild for my palate.
We have a similar taste, Bradley. We only ate paprika for salad and pepper just for spices.
I was exposed to Chili’s living in Thailand many years ago, yum!
Do you still enjoy it after returning to the US, Doc?
I do still love them. We go through a bottle of chili sauce a month at our house!
Ah, yes… of course, chili sauce… but definitely without the spicy dishes like in Thailand, is it?
We try! Not as hot as thailand (in the US when you got to a thai restaurant they say thai hot, and even that isn’t anywhere near as hot as in Thailand!
I’m sure such restaurants have adjusted their products to the taste of the market
yes, it is rare to find one that actually serves truly good Thai spicy!
I do like spicy food, but not too hot. I will perhaps put one small chilli in when I make a curry.
Curry is worth to have a spicy taste, though a bit. Well, for those who really like spicy, just by imagining the spicy taste, people have awakened their appetite. lol
I enjoy a little spice. That could help things tastes extra nice, but too much is not so good lol. My one daughter loves everything spicy. Great post!
Thanks, LaJenna. Well, at least you have a good variation for food. lol.
This is my effort to write something different. lol
A little is good but not too much
Yes, Pamela. There are people who do not like spicy, there are little likes, and those who like spicy as me, really like spicy so much.
I love it slightly, my husband eats very hot.
That means your husband has the same taste as me. Hehe…
I noticed that you have the same taste.Hehe…
To enjoy certain foods often do not feel perfect if the mouth has not been burned, Branka.
