Black Swallowtail ~ Critter Saturday

Sharing a photo of a black swallowtail butterfly in Dustin’s garden. The blooms are starting to fade and the visits from the butterflies are getting less every day.

Even though the temperatures remain very hot, the calendar is making me say goodbye to these butterflies.

I have seen many this year with the addition of a second butterfly bush. Many will return again next spring. Care to guess if this is a male or female swallowtail?

Answer and explanation will be revealed soon.

  1. Beautiful! during my walk this morning I saw so many butterflies. But its often hard to take a picture when you are holding dogs who love chasing butterflies.

  2. Honestly I would not know the difference between a male and female butterfly (lol)

Off topic. What is your secret of getting so many views in a matter of hours?!!!!!

    • I always learn about nature almost every day. As for the views, no secrets. A lot of people apparently view my posts. Many every day view with no comment.

      • I have noticed that. They just view and we do not know who they are and in your case being an old hand you do have may followers and that could be the secret (lol)
