Bath Time!

Ever wash a cat? Nickle is so good, she will even let me bath her in the sink. I have been battling fleas this year, to no avail.  I have tried Frontline, Advantage, Advantix, Seresto Collars, Comfortis, and Nexgard. Still have fleas.

This was taken two weeks after trying Advantix for Cats. She was so itchy, sure enough, when I got here wet I saw probably 20 or more fleas. She got a good old fashioned flea bath, but this wont keep them off of her. I need something new to try.

    • Frontline, Advantage, and Advantix are the topicals, the fleas are now immune to that drug. It sure used to work good, for about 15 years. The last five though, the fleas have changed so this no longer works. So sad.

  1. I’m not sure if there’s a solution called ”Pancid” and ”Ivermectine” powder in your country. ”Pancid” is for external and ”Ivermectine” is for internal use.

    • OMG, We can’t get this here anymore. I used to have an old vet that used to give us pancid. It was dosed for cattle, but he was able to get the smallest dose right for dogs. I wish we could get that here.. I would have no problems what so ever. I wonder if I could order this… This is a great idea. I never even thought about ordering from another country.

  2. Years ago my late husband would bathe our cats every so often and they hated it lol. Now you can buy flea collars that protect them for a year at the vet.

    • Those flea collars would be seresto collars. They don’t work. That was the last thing I tried. 2 months into the collars is when I found all the fleas. I am hoping Bravecto will do the trick.

  3. we are using bravecta (spelling sorry) and it has reduced flea and tick issues. Both the labs were rescues and tested positive for Lyme disease.

So far things have been good this year.

    • That is a good idea for most things, but each vet has their own favorites. The problem is now the fleas are becoming immune to most of the things on the market now.

  4. Here cats look after themselves in that their saliva takes care of any issues So no flea treatment.

Pets need to be brushed every day.

    • Boy, the cats are lucky around there. But there is really nothing in the saliva that will kill a flea. Just old fashioned picking them off is what cats do that don’t get flea treatment. Brushing everyday is so important. I am a master groomer, I can’t tell people this enough! Thank you Grace. My cats want to come live there!

  5. Poor kitty cat. I never had that much problem with fleas. My cat Runt is mostly an outdoor cat and he has had no flea problems so far. (Knock on wood). I have always heard that lemon is a fairly good repellent but how to apply it on a cat or dog remains a mystery to me… Hope you find a remedy for your beautiful pets…

    • Ah History, it’s that brutal weather you have up there. 😉 Man they are so bad down here. I think I will try what Doc uses. Until they become immune to that…

  6. What a cute photo! Bath time for cats is no fun for you or the cat. Mine both stay indoors so thankfully I don’t have a flea problem to deal with. When I had Momma Kitty I used a collar. Can’t remember the name, same for my dog Cassie.

    • Thank you, Nickle with a not so happy face.
So, there is a problem with letting them out in the enclosed yard area.. I even sprayed for bugs a few times in the whole back yard. They are relentless. I think I will try bravecto. Wish me luck, or them that is.

  7. I used to use this stuff around the house. I misted it over my tapestries before I vacuumed…. I used Frontline in the past every once in a while like twice a year. I’ve never run into a situation where the Frontline type stuff didn’t work. Our cats in SF got that when they started scratching (every two or three months) … Anyway, this may help some – smells like oranges https://www.orangeguard.net

    • Fleas are now immune to Frontline. I used it for years, but about three years ago it stopped working. I have heard of orange guard before, Love the citrus smell. The fleas are so bad down in SD that no citrus stuff works either. None of it. I have never seen fleas this bad. Must of been all that rain.

  8. I’ve no 4-legged pet…
    so sorry, I can’t help here…

hope the fleas will find some(cat) better and leave her for good
