365 Photos Challenge Day 6

“We may think we are nurturing our garden, but, of course, it is our garden that is really nurturing us…” is a quote by Jenny Uglow. I am not familiar with her works as biographer, historian, critic and publisher. Just the same, I picked this particular nugget of wisdom for the simple fact it communicates.

Gardening is not an easy hobby to have although many people will give you testimonials as to its therapeutic value. With hands getting dirt, the heat of the morning sun and the time and effort it requires to grow plants – one needs a lot of patience in order to love gardening. I am not one for that. And yes, you guessed it right, my biggest challenge in my existence is patience and tolerance. I am working on that flaw as much as I can – but it is not a walk in the garden to learn such virtue.

The subject for my Day-5 in 365 Photos Challenge is the open area outside our bedroom which my cousin, Rose, turned into a place for her gardening. She is currently in love with orchids and so she, and the two other witches (I amusingly call the four us “witches” – so the other two witches refers to my sister and the other cousin, Jen), keep their mornings busy tending to these lovelies and the rest of the plants.

I do not help out in gardening…the same way, I do not help out in cooking. Lol! I am mostly a soul who loves my solitude (see, my hobby is writing – that should speak for itself) and I adore them for accepting me the way I am. Do not worry. I am allowed to be lazy in certain things around the house. No one would permit me in the kitchen because, according to them, my kitchen skill is limited to burning water. A great hazard. So, the allowance extended to me has more to do with safety precaution than anything else.

I have a long list of character flaws but to these women it comes with the package. We make fun of each other’s eccentricities and imperfections. But, at the end of the day, it is something we totally accept without condition. And that is the reason why we are all single. A man has to rival that kind of love.

Ooopppppssss….did I just turn dramatic? Sorry about that. Still, they are one of the best gifts in my life that I am always grateful for. That is the “why” of it.

Now, done with 6 and still 359 more photos to go. Check out my milestone so far:

    • There is a kitchen here lol! But we never use it though. Our most favorite place in the house is the bedroom. We have our morning coffee in the bedroom. And some nights if we get hungry while staying up late, my cousin also cooks (she bought a butane that we normally bring during picnics on the beach) inside the bedroom. Lol!

    • Lol! Those are actually wood…the girls are into orchids these days. It used to be veggies but there are cats (not ours but lives here anyway) in this part of the house who poop on the lettuce they planted every single time. And the girls do not like to use it for salad. So, they gave up on the veggies and switch to orchids and flowers.

  1. I was not used to expressing my thoughts but since I started studying spirituality I learn to put down my guard and wall further than I used to allow. I realized it is no big deal if I say I love you or if I say I appreciate what you are doing for me. Many times, we prefer to assume that the other person knows what we feel towards them. Yet, many times they don’t. So, we should learn to say more I love yous while we have the time. Loving is our responsibility. Maybe enough love will put a balance against the madness that the world is experiencing for a long time.

  2. Well, at least you always appreciate their talents, interests, and perseverance in presenting the beauty around, as you did through this wonderful post. Genuine friendship is an extraordinary indeed, and it must be hard to find another as a substitute.
