I posted an article showing Terramar Beach in Carlsbad California during high tide. Now I would like to show you what was under that high tide. Here are the tide pools I mentioned in the other article. This area is nicknamed Carlsbad Tide Pools.
Our sand is a mix of gold and pyrite.
In the distance you can see the bluffs we sit on when the tide is high.
It is so pretty here. A lot of people come to check out the pools left behind.
Here is what they look like up close.
The water is very clear.
I didn’t notice that there was a pearl in the shell here. Until I got home that is..
This shell was such a pretty pink! With the pink plant too.
These are Sea Anemonies.
A sea anemone is a sessile polyp attached at the bottom to the surface beneath it by an adhesive foot, called a basal disc, with a column-shaped body ending in an oral disc. Most are from 1.8 to 3 cm (0.71 to 1.18 in) in diameter, but anemones as small as 4 mm (0.16 in) or as large as nearly 2 m (6.6 ft) are known. They can have from a few tens to a few hundred tentacles. They come in a variety of colors.
I will end this with a dog head shaped rock. I think it looks like Pluto.
Enjoy!
A lovely SpLaSh! indeed. I know the tide pools well and how not to be “anemoneed”. Grin.
nice post!!
Very nice, I especially like the first photo!
Thank you!!!
Lovely pictures, real joy to see
Glad you liked them Pam.
A PEARL…youre rich! ?
lol , I didnt notice until I got home there was one there. My luck, no riches for me. lol
Thank you, I feel I’ve gone to visit the sea shore! 🙂 And tide pools…
You have visited Southern California now. Grins. Glad you liked the set.
The seaside is so much more fascinating when there are rock pools!
No doubt, thats so true. There is only one other place near us, and its in La Jolla. The tide pools there are much larger, but more commercialized since the Marine Biology center is there, and they have places where you can handle the marine life, so its busier.
I love the idea of a petting aquarium!!
Very cool, all in all!
Thanks Norman 🙂
So fantastic Kim
Thanks a bunch Kathy!
That is so awesome! Amazing photos. I did not know what the sand was. I lived in Vista for a summer years ago and used to go to Carlsbad and Oceanside all the time. Thanks so much for bringing back wonderful beach memories. I could be there ALL DAY with no problem. Also, your dog looks so much like my Balti. He loved the water too. People thought he was a wolf mix… maybe he was.
I grew up in Vista. You are welcome, all the pictures I post are close, either vista, carlsbad or oceanside. Meika came from Julian, shes 25% shepherd, and 75% wolf. Glad I was able to take you back down memory lane.
Love the clear blue water.
It is very clear! Thank you.
