Caveat: These are all trees I’d find in the woods in Ireland or Britain. While many are found in other parts, their appearance may vary, and the local common name may differ. For avoidance of doubt, I’ve included the botanic name in brackets.

I got 7 out of 9, I liked it
Oh you did really well, LaJenna! Well done 🙂
5 out of 9, the Ash tree really stumped me
This is a really well-prepared quiz. I cheated a bit because I have field guides next to me and all the trees in the quiz don’t grow in my area. I wanted to learn more about the trees I didn’t recognize, since I’d like to be as knowledgeable as possible about trees.
Thanks very much, Barbara. That’s really not cheating, in my opinion; it’s making use of the quiz 🙂 When making quizzes, I find there is often a tension between my natural instinct to stick with what I know, and the desire to widen the appeal of the quiz. Sometimes I go one way, sometimes another, but in this case I was more comfortable staying with the trees I know well, but the result is that if you live outside western Europe, some proportion of the trees I mention are going to be unfamiliar. Oh well 🙂 Thanks for taking the quiz!
Interesting, Norman. I don’t see these in Australia.
8/10
Well you did darn well if these trees are all unfamiliar to you!!
Haha! Got 3
Not a big tree-hugger, are you? 😉 Thanks for playing!
Yup! I barely recognize it all, the only one I know is the maple leaf
got 4 out of 9 right!
Good try, Edith! Thanks for playing 🙂
5/9 Fun quiz!
Glad you had fun 🙂
4/9 Awesome quiz, but I should learn more tree names in English, haha.
Haha – yes that’s always the barrier! Thanks for playing 🙂
8 out of 9 i’m really excited when play this quiz!
Thanks for sharing Norman!!!!
Well done, Hamza! I’m very pleased that you enjoyed 🙂
You got 4 out of 9 right!
Not so bad
I expected 100% from you, Elenka! What happened?!
I’ve used all my talents and intelligence, here’s the result;
You got 7 out of 9 right!
Great
That’s a superb result, from someone who lives in the tropics 🙂 These are all temperate-zone trees!
That’s a precious compliment! That means I do not have to move to another earth zone, is not it?
Now ain’t that something, Om Albert?!
I only got the first 4 correct! It is a learning lesson though!
Out of 8 that’s not so bad! Researching and assembling this quiz was educational for me too 🙂
I got 6 of 8 correct. (Sometimes I guessed)
You did well! (And guessing is allowed 🙂 )
I got ash and birch incorrect. I think i tend to look at the bark on these when I am out and about, and you had no bark. woof woof, Great quiz.
Woof woof yourself! TBH I can’t tell the difference between the rowan and the ash based solely on leaf. I find a tree’s habit tells a lot too. And the birch leaf, in isolation, wasn’t all that different from a beech or alder, but in reality you don’t see just one leaf, you see a bunch of them and for me I can tell a birch at quite a distance from the way its leaves, all together, catch and reflect the light. But these things are hard to incorporate into a quiz!
Same here. The bark is what makes the birch so distinct. It also helps to see a twig with leaves intact to see their patterns.
Very true, Barbara.
7/9 i got great they ranked me, but I don’t think so, there is guess in it.
You got a good result – be content 🙂
6 out of 9.
Not bad, Andrew 🙂
Got 3. I’m not familiar with the leaves of most of those trees.? Please include the pine tree, it’s the only tree I always saw here in our place. Lol.
Aw, sorry, Cassy! I only included leaves that I can tell apart, and I get all those evergreen pines and yews and cedars mixed up!
I am still thankful for this quiz. At least I now can recognize those trees.
5/9
It’s a decent score. I’m guessing some of these temperate trees are unfamiliar to you?
You got 8 out of 9 right!
Perfect. You rock!
Haha, seems to me I have deep dendric discernment….but a couple were lucky guesses and I know 5 of them because of my son’s science book.
Ah, well done, regardless of how you attained your dendric discernment! I suppose some (most?) of these do not grow in Pakistan 🙂
Good morning to everyone…. So good picture of sunrise….
Good morning, Zaki 🙂
5 out of 9, the Ash tree really stumped me
The leaves are terribly like the rowan. Indeed, the rowan is also known as the mountain ash 🙂
Got 4 out of 9. Says “not bad” but I’d say “not good” lol.
I’d say no too bad at all 😉
5/9 so I’m no boy scout
You got a pass there, Alex!
I can’t tie knots, either…
Only got 4/9. I should gave got ash right, but that one was tricky!
It was tricky because the rowan was with it. I’m not sure I could tell those two apart, by the leaves alone.
Exactly! When two similar options appear together, it can be tough to get the answer right.
I got 4 out of 9. Great quiz, though I didn’t know too many of them!
4 isn’t so bad, Mom! Thanks for playing 🙂
3 out of 9. XD I don’t know leaves at all. So very little. The quiz was really unique and fun.I loved it. =)
I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Did you say you’re from PR? I’m pretty sure the trees are rather different there! (if there’s any left standing 😮 )
Yeah, it’s nothing but palm trees mostly. So according to that, I should have gotten the answers right. Just kidding! Ha ha! But yeah, the island is healing. I live in the US now, but I have some family members over there that are healing.
OMG, I only got 3/9, shame on me ? I live in the countryside ?
Maybe you will recognise some trees better now 🙂 But you better hurry up before the leaves fall off!
Only got 5 but learned a lot!
Good, Carol, and I’m glad you enjoyed 🙂
