Love ItLove It

I was reading how devastating some fears and phobias are to many millions of people all around the world.

One such fear that comes to mind, may sound stupid that there is a phobia that keeps sufferers from setting foot outside of their homes, it is called Agoraphobia and it is a condition which is often misunderstood to be simply a fear of leaving home, but Agoraphobia is such a debilitating phobia that if a sufferer has an attack, escaping from its grip would be impossible. There are records, of certain individuals who had not left their homes for months and even years.

  1. I have had a fear of height all my life. Interesting you should mention the fear of going out. I am sure I do not have this fear but what I suffer from is nervousness and I am an anxiety/panic attack survivor. Lately, since I can get everything delivered to me It has become easier for me to just stay and work at home. Of course, there is a lovely world outside and a beach nearby but me? I have not been out since July. Why? I have no idea and I am considering remedying this before it becomes a real problem by going out at least twice next week. The silliest thing of all is that I know I can do it and I know that it would make me happy to take photos of nature again but DO I WANT TO DO IT? Silly isn’t it???

  2. I didn’t know such phobia. Those who have Agoraphobia are really suffering. I only know a friend who is really fear of cats. She can’t even look at the pictures of cats. There are always cats around in my country, so she is quite suffering when she goes out sometimes.

    • Ailurophobia is a type of specific phobia: the persistent, irrational fear of cats. Other names include felinophobia, elurophobia, and cat phobia. Like all phobias, the victims have a very real fear and are often totally debilitated. Thanks for commenting Kaka.

    • All I can about that, Carol, is when I had an out of body experience, I was “observing” my body through a kind of haze since my eyes, etc. were 2 meters below me on the bed where my wife was busy doing CPR on me. Everything in our bedroom was exactly where they were supposed to be. I only noticed, that where my thoughts were coming from, up near the light, there was nothing visible of me. I was not dreaming this, because my military “dog-tags” which had gone missing 4 years before, I saw them lying on the wooden pelmet above the window while I was O.B. When I returned into my body, I went to the exact spot where I had “seen” them from the ceiling and I have had them close at hand for 25 years, since, as a constant reminder of how very real the afterlife is, and that it’s not far away, only in a different dimension. I “heard and “saw” everything going on.

        • Wow! Thank you so much for sharing that with me, and feel free to share any time. This is sort of a confirmation right! I need to hear these stories over and over when the doubt creeps in. 🙂

          • I will never lie to you, Carol, you know me well enough not to joke about that. While in that state, I “heard,” my wife say, repeatedly: “Come back, please come back, don’t leave us now.” I’m telling you this, so you can talk to your loved ones because they can hear you. How they respond to you is never up to them. That voice of reason, telling you inside your head that I’m not lying, we call our conscience, well, I hope you won’t be disappointed by the insignificance of Him, but that’s God. Oh, and the other guy telling you this is a pack of lies, that’s satan, no more and no less. Confusion is created by the devil, in God’s realm, there is only truth.

    • In my work at one time, as a Safety inspector at a shipbuilding company, I had to climb up gantries, see-through metal staircases and lift shafts to inspect work being carried out many meters above the ground, I just had to confront my fear of heights in order to get my work done, I know how scary it feels, Alex.
