Knin fortress is one of the oldest fortresses in Europe, beginning of construction goes back to the Middle Ages. The Knin fortress is an imposing military object, being the second-largest preserved fortification in Europe. The fort is, of course, also the most recognizable symbol of the town of Knin and also a very important Croatian monument. The fortress is 470 meters long and 110 meters wide at the widest part. The defensive walls that completely encircle the fort are 20 meters high in some places, and the entire length of the defense wall measures 2 kilometers. Within the walls, the fort occupies an enviable 48,000 square meters of surface.
