I threw something in yesterday, my apologies – the phrase a seagull is an IT project thing. The seagull is a bird. In the IT world, a seagull swoops in leaves something and then flies away. Sometimes the seagull leaves an offering that is kind and giving. Mostly, at least the seagull here on this site, it isn’t very nice. It is in fact “sincere” crap. My apologies for using an IT phrase. I forgot to include the definition of the words.
Give me 200 random comments on my posts! those I love. Seagulls are welcome to stay away.
It’s funny in the IT world we have many of those. I have shared some of them in the past.
Today after 22 minutes of effort, I have created the new poll. You can vote yes on any number of these questions. But please only select this one is critical to me on two poll items or one. Don’t hold back if there are additional things you think would help the site, please place those in the comments.
- Please include in the comments what your most critical voices were.
- I will be subtracting all none commented criticals before I send this to the admins (some ghosts vote, but who swear they don’t read my posts)!
- So no comment with your first critical choice, then I remove those votes. I am sorry for striping the anonymity of the polls, but it is essential to put names with the things that are critical to authors here.
I heard an interesting thing from another author. One of the writers on this site, I will give that person the nickname site royalty, says there are too many messages being sent to the admin. While I acknowledge the self-appointed royal has to a viewpoint, they do not have the right to make other people feel bad or tell them what to do; the royal has done that a few times.
So, please send as many messages as you deem you have time to the admins.
Note – we need to start our please moderate posts email barrage again. It seemed to work the first time, but we haven’t had anything published since that initial blast.

MY most critical (to follow my own rules) would be Communication and a functional post report button.
There is my word…. Communication.
yeah for reason I keep hearing it in my head now!
Basically all points are important so best of luck with the admins and I hope some things do change.
thanks will continue to move this forward!
This one: “THE RETURN OF THE EDIT BUTTON WITH LIMITS (EDITED POSTS ARE NEW WITH NO BUMP FOR OLD VIEWS AND COMMENTS)” Is the most critical one. I don’t like the WTF button and my pet hate, is when articles written 2 or more years ago, coming from an otherwise inactive page is frequently featured on the trending page, so, this item comes in as a close second choice: “CHANGE THE MOST COMMENTED AND TRENDING LIST TO SHARE THE BEST STORIES FROM EACH CATEGORY?
i agree with you on both of those! it does make me nervous when I see those older posts suddenly pop. The external only view posts (1 or 0 comments) also make me nervous. I think the value of this site is the community, so heavily interacted posts deserve to be featured in each category
I believe, one such post by the same author is featured on the trending page right now.(lol)
I saw that, makes me sad
Nothing is supercritical to me. I just write here.
You had no “no” buttons there, so I skipped a few questions.
I would like some things to be better, but I would not use the word ‘critical’ to describe this.
I do have another article seated on its waiting chair for 6 days now, so I guess that one about faster moderation, is my highest priority item there.
Helium, a past writing site, had a forum, where writers, and Admin interacted. That sounds a bit like your “site editorial board”, which seems too fancy a title to me.
site editorial board isn’t my name! I understand your points, but surely there are things that would make writing here better.
Yes, you are doing a great job at finding the consensus view of the writers on this and then submitting them to Admin for us all.
that is my goal, as long as the seagull stays away I am happY!
i had heard of Helium. I have been using Hubpages off and on (I was in the Maven system before that)
“RETURN OF THE DRAFTS FOLDER” is the single most critical for me, but I chose ‘yes’ on that question by mistake :/ Faster moderation comes a close second.
you want the drafts folder back 😉
understood, and will note that as a most critical vote when i send this later today.
My concern here is the lack of reaction and action by the admin towards the bugs.
that is a very valid concern. they have responded to many of our requests since last July (many of which were bugs).
I chose #1 and #2 as the most critical at this point. Great poll by the way. I know the time it can take to get these done correctly. The self-appointed royal phrase has me rolling on the floor. That is a good one. And I see you have some good ratings so far here. 🙂 I think one of the reaction buttons should go away.
we asked to have that button removed last month. Will send that poll to the admins again!
I love getting those reactions. If I get 10 in a week I get to buy a gadget!
self-appointed royal actually comes from Stephen Colbert!
You are so funny. May as well turn negative into humor, right!
Great job you are trying to do here. Did not know the original of the new name. 🙂
yeah Colbert uses it when people act high and mighty!
It fits perfectly for many situations. 🙂
it truly is perfect in many cases!
To me, perhaps the most important editorial board. I really don’t know who still writes offensive posts. I don’t know why administrators don’t remove these posts.
I think it is a great idea (Introvert was the origin this particular time). I think it would really add value.
i suspect they do actually more than we realize. I know of at least four that have been removed in the past 30 days.
Then they just do something. I don’t dig as deep as you so I didn’t know that.
i worry honestly, there are way to many scary posts on the site. i am losing long time readers, people that have ready my blog for 10 or more years.
I really don’t understand what the purpose of these posts is. Or someone is trying to “destroy” a site.
i don’t know, i wish I did. the value of those posts for the site is they get a lot of external views.
