One of my friends shared a recipe about Chinese steamed buns with me last week, and I tried and made a few batches. We usually call them Mantou in Mandarin, as there isn’t any filling. I used pumpkins or sweet potatoes to make these steamed buns. The kids enjoy making the buns in different shapes. I also learned to make the rose shape as taught in the video tutorial. But I actually prefer to eat the simple shape.

Looks nice and yummy, would give a try. What made the yellow color?
This looks very tasty so I’ll give it a try
It is the first time I hear about this, it looks delicious.
Thanks! Perhaps you can check out this food if you visit any Chinese restaurants in future. 🙂
I love the Chinese buns with pork fillings.
I like that as well. We call it “Cha Siu Pao”. There are also steamed buns with different fillings, but I think those with pork fillings are the famous ones. 🙂
Would like to try this one, looks great.
Thanks! I think you can find them in some Chinese restaurants there.
sound very tasty , thanks for sharing
Thanks! I hope you’ll get a chance to try it.
You have really created something not just tasty but pretty too.
Thanks! This is the first time I tried making the rose steamed buns. It’s not as difficult as I thought, though not everyone I made is pretty. Some of them in the picture actually made by my sons.
