the sound of glass shattering
as it plunges
from a great height
to join with the floor
and explode, into a million pieces.
in the distance
the lights
twinkle.
fading in
and out. The smell of partially combusted fuel
mixing with the sound of breaking glass
bring both together
a cacophony of emptiness
in the distance
always twinkling lights.

I often watch lights of Dehradun from Mussorie a hilly town in Himalayas. Dehradun is about 35 km by road but only 8 km if we walk through the hilly walking road. A different experience both watching the distant lights from both the cities and walking on steep rising or coming down the slope. We have number of such opportunities in Himalayan towns. Being a traveler I have had a number of distant light watching opportunities of water sitting on the sea shores and beaches in different countries. You have posted a great image here!
