Another Monday here and time to share a macro photo with you. This grasshopper was trying to hide in my garden this past spring. But I managed to snap a quick photo of him. They are so cool to see up close. They are very large and nothing to be afraid of. They will jump to get away from you. I had to sit still for a few minutes to get his photo. He really doesn’t like the camera.

I’m jealous. We do get a lot of orb weaver spiders. I wonder if that keeps the number of other insects down.
Great capture of a grasshopper! When I was a kid their arrival signified spring! They are not as prevalent in Maryland as they are in Indiana!@

I remember capturing beautiful grasshopper pictures with my long distance DSLR. Though I miss those beautiful days, I am equally happy to know that God has created all things so beautiful.

I have never had that happen with these but I have with the mantis.

my experience is the other way around- I can’t recall ever catching a grasshopper that didn’t spit soy sauce in my hand, and never even knew a mantis could do that- they’ve never tried it with me…

That grasshopper with all the details does look really cool. Unfortunately I don’t have such macros to share anymore. Is it only for natural things picture?
He really was cool to see up close. No, anything macro will be fine.
