Another reason I love the rose of sharon blooms. Each bloom offers many meals of pollen for the bees, hummingbirds and butterflies. I love watching these bumble bees especially. They will literally get covered in pollen and sometimes fall off the bloom. I call it being drunk in the pollen.
This bumble bee is covered in pollen. See his leg, he can barely move it to get out of the bloom. He was moving in slow motion. I did not have time for a video but maybe next time. So cool to watch nature in my yard.

What a beautiful capture, these tiny insects and bees help us in so many ways. Thanks for sharing this photo.
Thank you, Carol, for having so much patience to take this picture.
And I thank you for your kindness. It does take patience, and I enjoy every second.
You caught. Nature by it’s collar here
Yes I certainly did, stood there for several minutes watching.
Wonderful capture , Thank you for sharing
Thank you for commenting.
one wonders if drones feel anything at all
Yes one does wonder about that.
ants and bees have a hive mind, which means a nominal level of autonomy
Never thought of that before with ants, I knew it about bess.
the interesting thing is that both colonies have a minimum size to have a hive mind. if they are even one insect below that number, the hive collapses into individuals
Always something new to learn about nature around us.
You need patience for shots such as these. You have plenty of it I notice. Indeed a rare capture.
Yes without patience most of my nature photos would be impossible. Thank you.
Fantastic shot. I have not seen anything like that yet.
Thanks, all three bushes of this flower are full of blooms and bees like this.
The bee looks so beautiful like dressed in a nice dress and ready for the party. That’s a gorgeous photo, dear.
He is all decked out right! Thank you Fortune.
That’s an exquisite photo. I love it!
Thank you, I stood there watching him for a few minutes. SO cool!
Beautiful picture, dear Carol…..Thrive these great images
Appreciate you dear Lado, this was a fun event to watch in my yard.
Actually, he reminds me of a food …
it’s a Malay “snack”, a tapioca “cake” wrapped with shredded coconut
Lovely photo by the way!!
Thanks, he was so funny to watch. 🙂
It is simply an amazing photo. I would never see things like this without the help of others. I am very thankful and grateful that you are willing to share.
Thank you. I share because I enjoy the photos and nature so much. I want others to enjoy as well. Have a great day!
Poor little bumble bee. I guess that pollen is very heavy for its little frame or like you say it is drunk with pollen. I am surprised you have bees where you are. Here in Canada, we rarely see them nowadays and even for the past two or three years. Their numbers have really declined. Of course this is where I reside which has little flowers around and mostly trees…
They do this every year and it is so cool to watch. I have swarms of bees. I hate to hear about their numbers declining. These are bumble bees. I don’t see honey bees.
