## Written by Witty Feeds Multiplication first then Addition, then subtract.

• Yeah , you are very correct . thank you Haraka

• Yeah , the answer is -3 , thank you Andre

3. “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally”. In other words, you have apply the operators in the order – Parantheses (brackets), Exponents (powers of a number), Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

Given that there are no brackets or exponents here, the precedence rules mean that you must first multiply 3 by 3, to get 9, then add 3 to get 12. You must then subtract the 12 from the initial 3, because minus is the final operator.

The answer is therefore minus 9.

• No sir , the answer -3 , Can you please solve this question with BODMAS Procedure.

• It is only -3 if you apply the operator order rules in the wrong order! It might be that this is taught differently in different countries – I am using the PEMDAS order that is followed in the UK.

• First, multiply 3 x 3 to make 9. Then, 3 – 9 = -6. Finally, -6 + 3 = -3

• In this case there is no B, no O, and no D but only M,A,S which means you first multiply, then add and then subtract is what I think.

You do not seem to have followed this rule. You need to explain.

I assumed those brackets and came to a wrong answer.

4. These puzzles are worked out differently to when I was at school. I know that the multiplication has to be done first (I think they sometimes put that in brackets) but after that I get lost.

• I agree with you , Thank you Linda

5. First, multiply 3 x 3 to make 9. Then, 3 – 9 = -6. Finally, -6 + 3 = -3

• Yeah , you are correct , I realize there are more genius people here on virily platform

• You are applying subtraction before addition. All the rules I have seen quoted here place addition before subtraction.

• I was taught if there were no brackets, then it would go left to right. Multiplication and division would be ahead of addition and subtraction, but addition and subtraction would be equivalent in regards to being done.

6. There are no brackets but BODMAS is still used in such small problems

7. I think it’s -3……….?

• Yes , you are very correct , thank you

• You are welcome……… 🙂

8. MY answer is -9 because it is MDAS operation which means Multiplication, Division go first before the Addition and Subtraction.

• I agree with Alex, who is applying the operators in the correct order. Addition must be done before subtraction.

9. 3-3 cannot be left like that. It should have been in brackets. Anyway I think the answer is 0

• I will place it this way (3-3) X (3+3) = 0)

• You are right with your answer if there is a bracket. But I didn’t see a bracket in there.

• Let me help you , apply the special mathematics formula called (Board mass )

• No , Dear Grace you failed in this test

10. the right answer of the question is actual [ -9 ].

• No , Mr Soban , you are wrong , please try again

11. It would be correct for you to write parentheses.
The math tells us that the oldest work is done first – it means multiplying .3×3 is 9, so adding + 3 is 12 and finally subtracting,
3 – 12 = -9
That’s how I learned math.

• Sir , thank you for your detail handwork , but very unfortunately your answer is wrong

• Yes, Carol , you rock , you are really genius

• No genius but thank you.

• You are most welcome …………..

13. Multiplication we do first, so the answer is -3

• Yes , Fortune you have won this battle indeed

14. The correct answer are (-3)

• Yes , I hope you remember Saleem Ustaad

15. I never liked math … I think it’s 3
