Buzzing the Sedum

Captured this bumblebee on my deck sedum. He was enjoying hanging out on the top of the plant. The sedum is called Autumn Joy. The one on my deck has started to turn pink, it will eventually be a burgundy color. I have one in the garden that is still all green.

I always move slowly around the insects and am very careful. I have had them fly towards me but never stung by one. Growing up I had many stings. But not lately.

  1. As a child I was stung by a bee and nearly died. I don’t remember much except that a Doctor gave me a lot of injections, I was 4 years old.

Yet, Im not frightened of bees at all and it was probably my fault the bee stung me. That bee died. I handle them with care.

When I see a sick or injured bee I feed it honey and milk in a bottle top so that it can get better and fly away.

  2. Great picture!!!!!

I remember telling my daughter, and the twins not to swat at bees. Why they would always ask. Because if you connect, that bee is going to be mad, and whatever it hits after you connect it is going to sting.

Most likely stinging me. I got stung many times until they stopped!

  3. A wonderful photo That bee is intent on getting his nectar. I was stung twice and since then I have run from bees. Luckily for ages now I have not met up with any bees.

      • Oh, and yes, I’ve been stung by a wasp and a bee. Such a nice, in focus picture if you get my drift. Oh, and a hornet. We stopped to look at a piece of land many years ago; and I stepped on a hornet’s nest on the ground and got chased by a cloud of them (according to my husband); but only one stung me on the forehead.

        • You are so kind. thank you very much my friend. *wink-wink* 🙂 Hornets are the worst, I was in the ER once with a bite. So very painful for weeks.
