The second series of natural beauties and monumental constructions by which I try to illustrate only a few of the Romanian tourist attractions.
#1 Bran Castle
The Bran Castle is a national monument and a landmark in Romania, and is associated with the Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Actually, the fortress is a museum displaying art and furniture from the Queen Maria's reign. The documents releave that Bran Castle was built by Saxons from Kronstadt in Transylvania within the 14th century, as a defense against Otoman Empire's invassions. In 1920 the castle became the royal residence of the Kindom of Romania.
#2 Sihastria Monastery Putna
The Monastery Putna is one of the most important cultural and religious testimony of the ancient Moldavia, being built for the first time by the Prince Stephen the Great. It's and Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The monastery buried three times, and was rebuilt again.
The oldest embroidery of the monastery made at the end of 14th century is an epitaphion created with silk and gold, thread by Euphima, a Serbian nun.
#3 Varciorog Waterfall
The natural geological and peasagistic reservation Varciorog Waterfall is a waterfall falling down from over 15 meters, placed at the foot of the peak Talking Stone(Piatra Graitoare) in Apuseni Mountains. The optimal season to visit the reservation is the spring, when the snow is melting and the water flow is bigger.
#4 The Transfagarasan
The Transfagarasan is a paved mountain road crossing the southern side of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. The road was built between 1970 and 1974, and is a strategic millitary road connecting the Romanian historic regions Transylvania and Wallachia. The road has a lenght of 90 km(60 mi) and is built at the altitude of 2042 meters(6699 ft)
#5 The Black Church -Brasov
The Black Church in the Transylvanian city Brasov is the largest and one of the most important Lutheran places of worship in this region for the Evangelical Church of Augustan Confession in Romania. It was build by the German community during the 14th century, using in the Gothic Style, and is the main monument of country representing this architectural style.
#6 The Liar Bridge- Sibiu
The Liar Bridge is an iron bridge built in 1859 in the Transylvanian city Sibiu, as a bridge connection between the top and the bottom of the city. Is the oldest cast iron bridge in Romania, and a historical monument of Sibiu since 2015.
The bridge has two metal railings made up of 8 panels with radial, gothic decoration circles.
#7 The Muddy Volcanoes
The Muddy Volcanoes from Berca, a place in Subcarpaths of curvature, is a geological reservation created due of eruptions of gas from the ground, which bring mud and water to the surface. The mud volcanoes have same structure like the real volcanoes, but their height is only 5-6 meters, while the depth from which the lava is thrown is much smaller. In this case the lava means mud and water.
#8 Danube Delta
The greater part of the Danube Delta can be found in Romania. The Danube Delta is the second river delta in Europe after Volga Delta. From its total surface(water and lagoon) of 1603 sq mi, about 1300 sq mi is in Romania. The Razim- Sinoe lagoon complex of the Romanian Danube Delta is a World Heritage site, geologically and ecologically protected.
#9 Palace of the Parliament
The Palace of the Parliament from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, is the largest building in the world and the heaviest(4,098,500,000 kg) It was built between 1984 and 1997 under the Ceausescu's lead, 700 architects worked for plans and designs, as well many workers, the number of workers being estimated between 20000 and 100 000. Many people died during the construction of this building , a report indicating about 3000.
The building has 1100 rooms, 12 floor, is 790 ft long and 890 ft wide.
