The greater part of the Danube Delta can be found in Romania. The Danube Delta is the second river delta in Europe after Volga Delta. From its total surface(water and lagoon) of 1603 sq mi, about 1300 sq mi is in Romania. The Razim- Sinoe lagoon complex of the Romanian Danube Delta is a World Heritage site, geologically and ecologically protected.
