I have talked and written a couple of times about the bluebirds in my backyard. They have started a nest and then they stop. The sparrows ran them off. Then the weather went crazy, freezing and roller coaster temps. All of this has an effect on when they actually finish the nest building. I have been patient. This happens every year. Today they have started again nest building with pine straw. So far no sparrows. I hope this will be a complete nest and babies soon! Time will tell. Toes and fingers crossed for my bluebird of happiness in my backyard house.

I managed to capture both the male and female looking in the house. It has to be completely clean or they will not build. It passed their test. The female is building the nest while the male is playing lookout for sparrows or other predators. They make a good team.
Once I know for sure the nest building has officially started I plan to start a blog about my Bluebirds of Happiness.
365 Photos Challenge Day 159
This is a Great to See.
Such a wonderful picture! They are gorgeous little birds and they must be very interesting to observe. Can’t wait to see the babies!
Thanks Ellie, I love the bluebirds. I cannot wait either.
Great shot of the male with his wings open. Crazy weather lately. I hope spring stays and your birds.
This was taken from my deck, thanks. For the next few days we are suppose to have spring weather, we will see.
Carol, you captured the bluebird in flight perfectly! Awesome picture!
Thanks Doc but I sure need a bigger lens. Thank you, it is challenging to get these.
It is also a little expensive.
Yes indeed that is why I don’t have one.
As a geek I find myself jealous of the camera rigs of pros. But I also know, that I couldn’t take the pictures they take, so it passes!
I know, I would love to be a Nat Geo photographer.
Thank you, it was a challenge to capture this one.
Thanks I love these birds.
you captured a very sweet and magical moment!!
Thank you alibb, it is fun watching the beautiful birds in action.
Oh they are cuties. I hope the nest will be safe for them and they will have babies.
Yes they are special to me, thank you.
The return of the bluebirds.
Absolutely, and I am so excited to see if they complete the nest.
I am happy that you shared this image once again.
This is a different image than yesterday! This one is the pair just sitting, yesterday their wings were out.
Thank you for sharing it.
Lovely, lets hope no sparrows turn up. What do they eat? How do you look after them?
I plan to write more about them. They eat insects and worms, never from a bird feeder. They also enjoy mealworms. They are pretty independent as long as I provide a clean house with specifications I will write about. Thanks for asking!
Great photo! And hopefully the sparrows keep staying away!
Thanks Courtney, got lucky again.
That’s good to hear!!
Damn those sparrows… Curse their black hearts!
Believe me, I have! They are pretty much staying away for the last couple of days. We will see, the box is almost full of a bluebird nest.
A plague upon those airborne vermin, may their feathers all fall out!
Have you been listening to my conversations with them! 🙂
I had a sparrow commit Hari Kari by flying into the windshield of my old Dodge Aspen. I was told it was a bad luck omen, but I think it was worse luck for the sparrow.
I love all animals and birds except the sparrows, after seeing them kill the bluebirds and babies.
Love the bird house. I love it when birds find a place to call home in your yard.
Thanks, it has to be certain specifications. I see these every year.
I personally want to know more about these birds. I am glad for your happiness to have such beautiful guests. The photo is great.
I apologize as I forget so many people have not seen these birds before. I have it on my list to write all about them. I am glad you are interested.
Your photos are beautiful!
I feel their happiness as your happiness gives home to them.
Thank you Albert, they are such a challenge to capture together. More to come hopefully. What do you think about a bluebird blog? Both you and Doc have been nudging me to write more. This may be a good way to start.
Why not?
You are very competent and love them so much! Do it soon!
Thanks I will do just that.
