The mango tree usually bears fruit after 5 years of planting the seed. But orchard growers have a way of shortening that period by planting grafted mango trees that can bear fruit in only 2 years time. But a grafted mango tree is expensive to buy.

New Zealand is not hot enough to produce mangoes so we import them
We do have here too, but imported Pakistan mangoes a lot found in the market too.
Unfortunately we don’t have that delicious fruit here.
i miss the mangos of Thailand. we have them in the US markets, but they have to be picked so green and “ripen” on the way they don’t taste good.

I have 5 different varieties. One of them gives fruits after 12-13 years. Too sour initially but too sweet after ripening fully. Used for pickles as well.
