It is amazing how many wonderful things are found in nature. It is important to have eyes to see them! Looking at them how cute they are, I wonder how it was possible someone orders extermination of sparrows. I remember I read about Mao Zedong’s campaign against sparrows! The reason was hilarious. The sparrow were considered the main culprits of poverty and lack of food in the country because they ate too much grain. Tens of millions of sparrow have been killed. As nature does not leave the brutal intervention of people unpunished, China soon began to feel the locusts invasion. With no birds to control them, their attack was one of the causes of the great famine in China in 1959-1961 when millions of people died from food shortages. It was a real environmental disasters, and the consequences are known until today, when this little bird is almost missing from the landscape.

Human intervention in nature can produce environmental disasters, agree?

This is one of the cuttest photos I have seen! Unfortunately, that sparrow story is not the only example of people creating environmental disasters.
That’s an awesome capture.
True, most of the human-careless intervention would cause more trouble in the future.
We have a lot of sparrows in New Zealand. I think people should stop interfering with nature.
That’s a great shot. Many people are not aware of the harm of doing the work. Especially in the forests. Sometimes I see real garbage dumps in the woods.
So true about our interaction with nature. We all must know our limits.
Love the photo!!
Similar thing happen in Japan when they introduced Jellyfish to get rid of a hostile Invader but then they ended up with jellyfish problem.
I knew it was a problem with huge jellyfish but I didn’t know this is all because of human intervention.
I watched about it on a documentary…
Then they tried to make dishes out of Jellyfishes …
what I rmb is that it wasn’t that accepted by the locals.
I read that it was successfully introduced into the composition of caramel, candy and biscuits. Is this true??
I think so it was!
The documentary stopped at the point they were making cold dishes out of Jellyfish and having people on the street sampling them … it is not that accepted …
I guess they did manage to find ways to “Use” those jellyfishes later on! Japanese can get really creative!
You have touched upon such a critical topic. We as humans need to be responsible for what we do beyond simply checking a box!
Humans and Nature must co-exist in perfect harmony. Nature gives us the strength we need to survive, and we, in turn, should be deeply grateful and provide permanent protection.
it is as the Lion King taught us, the cycle of life! Sorry my kids were little when that movie came out, I know it by heart!
Are you referring to King Simba? ?
yes I am! It, the Lion King, has many themes that apply to humans and nature!
I had no idea that is why they had a locust problem. Very interesting. I have to say, that is one super photo Ileana, really great.
The sparrows feed on locusts larvae. In the absence of sparrows, the locusts have multiplied rapidly.
Ideal frame.Human intervention in nature is sometimes detrimental to its existence in virginity.
I was in the right place, at the right time.
It is important not to disturb the balance of Nature. Sometimes locusts will get out of control without human intervention. This case in the early 1960’s was manufactured by the humans killing of the sparrows, I hope that we have learned our lesson. But maybe not. . .
I agree, but I don’t think we learned. There are still many troubles caused by human intervention on nature.
