My daily picture – Walking on Ialomita Valey

We( I and Maya) took advantage of a beautiful  day and walked on the Ialomita Valley. Ialomita is a river which rises from the Bucegi Mountains. On its way to the Danube, Ialomita passes south of Targoviste, not far from Chindia Park. To get from the park to the Ialomita Valley, we have to cross Iazu Morii, so it does not require a special effort, and many times we take a daily walk on the Ialomita Valley. Historians and esoterists consider Ialomita one of the most sacred rivers in the country. All this because the legends speak of the fact that it was the favorite water of the great god Zamolxe. Zalmoxis is a supposed divinity of our Getae and Dacians ancestors.

  1. Very pleasant area for a stroll and even a hike. Maya and you seemed to be enjoying it very much. But Maya does not seem to be a water loving dog, or I’d it my imagination? Anyway beautiful surroundings. Lovely picture. I will have to check up on the divinity you mentioned. I am very interested in history and ancient cultures and I have to admit I have never heard of that name before. Thank you for mentioning it…
