Today is the poll revised to reflect the thoughts and input of the community. I did want to expand on two additional ideas from the comments. I realize that you can all read the comments, but not everyone has the time to do that so that I will have conversations from the feedback into the next post. The first is impressive I am not sure how the technology would work, but the idea is interesting. Return the edit button, but only let us edit two posts per month. I think that is interesting. I would love to see the edit button back, but with a specific rule that revised posts keep their previous views and comments, but as far as the site is concerned, it is a new post. There were a few people that misused the edit button by repeatably editing high view, with top comment posts and it skewed views for all users.
That behavior, of basically dropping views for virtually the entire site, is one of the contributors to them removing the edit button at that time. I posted several posts trying to get people to understand the impact of their actions. It didn’t work honestly, and the admin team pulled the functionality. I worked hard as did several contributors to my posts to get the edit button, and it was squandered by a few people that didn’t feel like listening. When the few impact the many, it isn’t a good thing.
The second idea is also exciting. Many sites have the concept of featured articles. A featured article would be on the page of the website. I know one of the things we could do is have a page for each of the categories on the site. When you go to that page, you would see perhaps a post on birds by someone. Possibly say an alphabet post on Mockingbirds. Maybe, in that scenario, does top posts by category rather than site full. It is an interesting idea and would, of course, love your thoughts on both ideas presented today in the comments.
The reality of the situation we are in (communication) is that no matter what things anyone puts forward is speculation. I can tell you that we have been able to ask for and get several changes from the site overall. Based on that, let’s do so so again. Pick the things that are critical for you; I will post the top ones tomorrow and include this one is most important to me category!
Sea Gulls need not comment today!

Your lines of effort are certainly getting some unified replies here, and so some action might be obtained from the seagulls, which I take it is your new name for the Admin here…lol…
actually no, the admins are not seagulls. But that is an interesting inference you’ve made.
I thought you meant they, the seagulls, pick the biggest choice selections from the site, taking all the profit for themselves, and leave the crumbs, or the bare bones, for the writers.
no this is an author who swoops in, craps and swoops out again. Sad really.
When I crap like that, at least I stick around to explain my crapping to others, and to try to clean it up a bit, that is, if it turns out to be really crap, not just a dropped hot chip, that I wanted to share with the community here too.
the seagull on the site does not do that. She flies in craps and then sincerely flies off. Shocked that people are offended.
Such is life, if you choose to be “honest” then once you turn up the heat in the kitchen you have to stay. If you seagull then you aren’t honest. you are simply an unkind person.

Priority for me is some guidelines on becoming verified and getting articles published at a decent time period, not days and days of waiting.
i am going to do a poll today that I will send to the admins – that one is on the list!
That is great! Good luck with the reception! I have another backlog here. It makes me not want to write on a daily basis.
we are going to start mailing the admins every day – so write every day. I had 12, 14 and once even more in the queue waiting for moderation.
I can do that as long as no emergencies pop up.
family first, always!!! i just sent one this am!
I wrote one last night that I have saved on my laptop and I just finished and submitted another. I think I have six in waiting.
i don’t understand what the admin team is doing. it is confusing. I know there are at least 12 authors waiting.
Best of luck and I am in total agreement with you.
i sadly do need luck – it has been a year, and three of these remain on our list.
When you go on a site you look for something to read. If there isn’t, you leave.
i do see that – I really like your idea. I think there is great merit in the by category best articles!
I think that better communication would solve many problems or maybe it would be easier for me to achieve something.
i truly believe better communication would be critical!
Featured posts is an interesting concept. It’s a high quality article that will serve to attract people to access the site. It works in many sites including Hubpages vertical sites.
With edit button, the comments and views should remain.
yes they would remain but the system would get reset to zero as far as the “current stats” that was the issue that lost us the edit button the last time.
I hope they will rectify it.
that is the hope, otherwise, those who don’t listen will simply do as they will and we will lose the edit button again.
Somebody would have to judge the quality of the posts though, and I do not think that the Admin staff would be up for that. They do not seem to know much about writing; they only know only their admin stuff.
i would say honestly the bible will pop every plagiarism site and application I know of. I can see them rejecting that.
If we cannot quote something, that is not good I think.
I gave the chapter and verse, and I said where it was from, just a short quote, but they want everything here to be our own writing, and yet, also, I have seen many verified writers writing whole articles with many quotes, such as quotes I have loved, or meaningful quotes.
There seems to be a large double standard here.
yes there is an issue, and they do pull posts by verified users, not fast enough but they do pull them.

Maybe this had to be said twice, or the gremlins pushed my comment in here again.
I think it was meant to be said to emphasize that point. I agree with you that admin seem to know much about admin stuff than writing.
If we had a maximum of two, it would be okay. Google algorithms prefer high quality articles. They are better indexed.
Yes, I do not think that English is their native language either.
They have rejected some of my articles for trivial reasons, like me quoting the Christian Bible, which has been quoted, for thousands of years.
i suspect they do struggle with english a lot.
I do not think so. Although I don’t understand why they would reject your articles including those which included Christian quotes.
Some of my articles were also rejected before I was verified.
Doc is telling me here that they will “pull” posts by verified writers here sometimes too, if they find them breaking their rules.
Oh…I might say it’s acceptable if the verified authors break the rules. But what if they don’t agree with the posts and pull them out?
I suppose they have a quick look over, or do a spot check, at times.
I chose my top three, but you know what they are by now. 🙂 Good luck!
luck i need – hopefully we find an audience with the remaining admins.
I hope so as well. You have my backing as always.
that means a lot to me, a whole lot!
