Laughter – the best medicine

The laughing Buddha is considered a good omen if someone gifts it to you.  No one has gifted me one so far but I must admit I have ways to keep myself happy despite challenges that I face every day

Laughing away one’s blues is one way and for this there are laughter clubs that one sees mushrooming everywhere  I have not joined any of these but do know how to remain happy.

I spend some time in front of the tv where there is a show that keeps the viewers in splits.  I also like to listen to jokes and do have a few here who are experts in narrating jokes.

I get a religious magazine and the first thing I flip for is the page that has jokes.

I am happy.  Are you?

    • A smile is contagious but not when someone cries. No one will cry with that person but would rather urge that person to stop crying That is the difference between smiling and crying.

  1. @DocAnderson There is no reply option after you comment. This is the second time it has happened. I therefore have to independently place my comment.

What has funerals got to do with crying clubs? At laughing clubs they choose to meet and laugh away their blues.
You are right about disasters but in that case instead of shedding tears one should rally round and extend a helping hand. We had a mini tornado here years ago and no one shed tears.

  3. We all go through emotions, that is life. Being compassionate is the best gesture we all can have in my opinion. That means being with others, sometimes crying with them to help them get through whatever they are going through. And of course laughter is good and healthy for all of us. I do it every day. I also cry often but that is ok too.

  4. When it comes to smiling, no one does it better than me. I am a smiling person. A person can insult me but I end up smiling. Sometimes, I don’t know why.
And, am somehow funny and playful. It is what has helped in making my students that to be interested (somehow) during my lessons.

          • really.
sometimes when you are with someone that has had enough of an impact that they cannot move on, you have to be there. In being there you have to help them by absorbing some of their pain. Reaching out to cry with them.

There are no pat answers to problems.

          • there are crying clubs. Its called a funeral. Its called post horrible natural event like hurricanes or terrorist and other awful attacks.

            Human beings need to laugh.
But unlike the dumb saying, there are times when as a human we have to stop and cry with others.

We are not human if we cannot connect on all emotional levels.
