You can get a virus that causes cold all year-round, but typically the winter months are considered to be the common cold season. Lately, the flu has been very active here too, so I am curious to know how you prepare yourself for this time of the year and how you boost your immune system. What are your tips?

Thank you for sharing your perspective! Stay healthy!
Here in NZ we are all advised to take flu shots, which I do but it does not stop you from getting a cold.
With cold or flu, drink plenty of fluid take vitamin C tablets and if you are fortunate to be able to have leymons on hand, many in NZ have a lemon tree in their grounds, drink hot lemon and honey drinks.
Stay home so you don’t give it to anyone else.
However, I believe the odd cold or flu will build up your immunity system, as when you are sick your blood cells remember that virus and defend you from getting more sickness from that virus.
A lot of people with motor neurone and multiple schlorosis have squeaky clean environments and often have never had cold or flu or anything else and then suddenly they get some sickness and they get this disease.
I don’t think its a bad thing if you get a cold or flu during the year. Get a flu shot if you can flu is worse than a cold. Make sure you know the difference as there is a huge difference.
Very good points, Pamela! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your perspective!
Here in Bulgaria, I don’t think that many people get the flu shot, even many workers in the medical field don’t.
Great poll. Avoiding people is a good tip, I mean, I’m a loner and I like it. ?
Haha, I meant avoiding crowds, but everyone carries germs so it makes sense to be careful. 😀 😀
I know the hardest thing to do is to avoid the flu. It is also the one thing I am ready for. My mother was a nurse, i learned how to move quickly from sick to well
That’s great, would you share some of your tips? Stay healthy! 🙂
sure happy to share
1. walk outside every day no matter how cold
2. wash your hands frequently throughout the day
3. lots of liquids
4. double your normal vitamin c
I taught school for 7 years. During that time I was sick literally 8-10 times a year. Now it is once a year if at all.
Those are really good tips, thank you for sharing! Indeed working with kids is risky regarding viruses and flu.
There is also an epidemic of influenza … I’ve already overcome it although I’m still cold … teas and vitamins dear Ellie
Get well completely, dear friend!
Thanks for the good wishes dear friend
Usually have flu season in the end of February – the beginning of March when immunity is reduced after a long winter. So vitamins + long walks is the best way for me to prevent it.
It’s great that you have something to rely on! Here, the peak is usually in January. Stay healthy!
Thank you so much & wish you the strongest health too!!!
Thank you very much once again! Happy weekend! 🙂
Here, too, there is a boom of a flu epidemic.
Stay healthy, dear friend!
I didn’t have a cold for years but recently after being on a plane I got the cold. I usually get a cold when I travel and I think it has a lot to do with the air on the plane.
Get well soon! Travelling can weaken our immune system a bit, and staying with lots of people in a closed area doesn’t help much.
That is so true. Thank you,
I have been sick for about 14 days despite all the vitamins (fruit, vegetables).
I am sorry to hear that and I hope you get better soon! Have you tried adding some products with propolis, black elderberry or echinacea into your healing routine?
If I feel like I am coming down with something, I have a bowl of miso soup and some hot sake. Works every time…
I hope it isn’t something serious and I am glad that you have something to rely on.
that’s not a remedy for a serious cold, more of a preventative measure
That’s important too. I feel that once I catch something, nothing really helps much.
Antibiotics and such are cures, but I try to focus on prevention and avoid the cure aspect altogether
Great poll and post….thank you for sharing! Sorry I haven’t been around lately…been earning more on another site, but I should at least come to check other’s posts here!
Thank you and I am happy to hear from you! Glad that you found a site that’s working better to you. I hope everything is going great! 🙂
I have certain allergies, so sometimes I sneeze several times at certain times, for example from daylight to dark or vice versa, or when I wake up. About flu, over the past few years, I have not experienced it again, maybe because I routinely jog and meditate while doing affirmations. I rarely consume any supplements. If I have flu or cold, I usually just take rest and get sleep more.
That’s awesome, keep up like that. I rely on supplements with propolis, black elderberry, echinacea, etc.a lot and I think they give me some extra protection.
Propolis is good! Also black elderberry, echinacea, because it’s all natural.
You are right, tis the season. There are many schools closed around here due to the flu, it happens every year. I recently started getting the flu shot. So far I am ok.
Thank you for sharing your perspective, Carol! I hope everything will get better soon.
Yes and so do I, thanks and have a great day.
You have a wonderful day too, Carol! 🙂
