This morning, I took this picture for a crazy color challenge while walking. The walk made my view of this beautiful oleander even more beautiful. For seaside resorts, oleander is a wonderful plant: it blooms for a long time, withstand the scorching sun and drought and salt in the coastal air. That is why in the place where I spend my holidays I see the oleander at every turn. Unfortunately, it is one of the most dangerous ornamental plants.It is known for species that contain pharmacologically useful ingredients, such as rauvolphy, and toxic cardiac glycosides. Due to the content of toxic substances, some species are still used in Africa today for various rituals and for the preparation of arrow poison.

It is a common plant here and on our highway they have planted as divider between two roads.
That’s a great idea. We also see many of them along the roads.
We have them here all around us. I wanted to post some oleander too but changed my mind at the last minute. 🙂

The flower is beautiful but it reminds me of unpleasant childhood story. Years ago, a neighbor died because of the toxicity of this plant.
I’m sorry. This is a really unpleasant story. I didn’t know until now that the flower was toxic.
