This beautiful Eurasian collared dove visits every now and then and always takes my breath away. He is almost white. You can see the black ring around his neck. I am used to seeing the brown mourning doves.
Sharing the photo with Friday’s Black & White challenge. The original color photo is below.
In researching these doves I found out they are rare to the US. These doves are camera shy, so I had to take this photo from inside the patio door, in between the blinds.

I feel sad because this reminds me of our pet pigeon. Maybe I will post an article about it. We named her Twinkle and she lived with us for 5 years.
It’s really so rare, never seen it before. Your photos are amazing!!!
Thank you, he was on my deck, so honored!
These doves come to my neighbors’ roof and coo a lot. They are cute but my cats are always trying to catch them which is sad. Thankfully they’re not the greatest hunters :))
I am sure the cats do go after them. My cats are indoor cats thank goodness. I also love the coo of the morning doves.
They are very rare, but we see them in the park near our house. Once a year usually. great capture.
They are rare in my area. And such a delight to see them. Almost angelic with their color so close to white. Thanks Doc.
They are very rare in my area as well. 🙂
Very pretty
We have pigeons visiting us and they to get to frolic in the birdbath
Thanks, I don’t have pigeons here but plenty of doves. They all love the water.
I have not seen pigeon for a long time. They disappeared in our country.
These are doves, in the same family but not the same as pigeons. Their size, food and sound is different. Wonder why the pigeons disappeared.
The contrast! So beautiful. Amazing how colors can change the world.
Thank you so much. I love seeing this beauty on my deck.
And I agree, colors can change the world!
Not sure I have seen one of these before but I will surely look closer next time.
You would probably remember if you saw one. They are stunning.
For my taste, the color image is much nicer … it is true that it also has a black and white picture of its charm
Thanks, I like it too, so I added to today’s challenge as well.
There are many photos that present more detail in black and white, depends on the subject.
These type of doves aren’t so common here …
the greyish ones are …
I love these, they are almost white. Such beauty on my deck!
How did you transform this pic into B&W? Did you scan it? I’m just curious. Very nice shot!
I have a photos program on my computer. But there are many free sites out there you can edit easily as well. Here are a few… Lunapic.com, pixlr.com, canva.com, and many others. Thank you!
Thanks, Carol. I’ll have to check them out.
You are very welcome. The only time I scan photos is if they are old ones not from my camera.
In fact i have hunted the dove 20 year ago
I remember growing up dove hunting was very popular. These are in my yard now.
Today I do not like thinking about others who dove hunt, I love the birds too much.
