During my travels around Bosnia and Herzegovina, I noticed a huge number of abandoned houses. I knew that Bosnia and Herzegovina still suffer the effects of the war which has also left many people displaced. The country is quite poor and many young people have gone to work abroad. And only those empty and abandoned houses remained. To me, these houses act as a reminder of the terrible things that are happening around the world. In some areas, only the elderly remained. This is truly unfortunate because Bosnia and Herzegovina have beautiful nature and wonderful people who are ready to help you every step of the way.

Impressive picture, dear friend. Strong with emotions! I remember how the mass media vigorously highlighted the war in the 90s.
Thank you, dear friend. Yes, this war took place in 90 years. In this country it lasted about 5 years.
90 years? Wow! As far as I know, according to the news in the media, of course, the war occurred from 1992 to 1995.
I think I wrote it wrong … you’re right. The war started in 1990, and it was in my own country. Then it spread to neighboring countries.
That’s okay, Vida. Thanks for your clarification, my friend.
Have some abandoned houses in my town, soon they should be demolished.
Here the houses are being demolished alone. These houses are usually in the countryside.
We don’t here. They actually take them down or make the a part of a musuem like experience.
Yes, some houses have been turned into museums. But that does not make this situation easier.
the house looks so sad in black and white. What was once brimming with love and family now empty and barren?
Yes, and unfortunately I’m noticing more and more. I would just cry when I think about then.
The world is changing, perhaps for the better, perhaps not. I do often wonder what is coming next.
It is sad what war does to us and everyday nations threaten nations and show their military and prowess.
I agree. All over the world this is happening more and more frequently. But all the consequences are felt by innocent people.
There are many old houses, some of them of historical value, abandoned in Romania. As everywhere, in the Eastern European area, many went abroad.
I suppose there are many such cases in our surrounding countries. I understand that they want a better life.
I have also noticed a lot of dilapidated and abandoned houses, dear Vidocka … and after talking to the locals, really everyone is fleeing to major cities or abroad
Yes, unfortunately so. But everyone wants a better life.
It is so … you have seen what poverty is and many buildings are empty and demolished
Buildings are crumbling already making themselves
There is no interest in anyone repairing these ruins
As far as I know, many people from Croatia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, and Serbia are moving to big cities or working abroad.
And that is why there are many abandoned houses in these countries. And uncultivated land. And these are beautiful countries, but …
I agree. I know you know this situation too. That really looks sad. Even more sad are the stories of the locals.
That’s sad. When the young leave, the elderly are left to cater for themselves which is very difficult
I agree, this is very sad. Many elderly people are left in our own country, and they find it very difficult to get through life.
Many youngsters leave the shores seeking greenere pastures and the old folks when they leave the world their houses remain unoccupied.
I agree, Grace. The same thing is happening in our country. Especially in some more remote places.
Looks great in black and white. We have abandoned buildings and it is kind of sad to see.
Yes, in black and white the house looks even sadder.
